George Carlin or Lenny Bruce? (contains F-word)

Cecil’s correspondent in the column about the origin of the F-word says that George Carlin said “fuck you” is a good thing to happen to someone, you should say “unfuck you.”

However, I seem to remember this as a line from Lenny Bruce in the movie Lenny as depicted by Dustin Hoffman. I am pretty certain he at least said he was going to call his mom and say, “Fuck you, Mom!” as a token of his affection.

I used to know the whole “Seven Words You Can’t Say on Television” and I don’t remember unfuck you. I do remember that George suggested that he’d rather have his kids see sex instead of killing in the movies: “OK, Sheriff, we’re going to fuck you–<pause>–but we’re going to fuck you slow.”

George or Lenny?

I have to go with Lenny. I probably heard it from the same place (the movie) but I think all the bits from the movie were taken from real bits of his.

And either way (the movie or some live stuff they showed on Night Flight back in the '80’s…anyone remember Night Flight?) I definatly remember it as being Lenny.

Thank you, Lone Ranger

IIRC, I read the “unfuck you” bit in a book of Lenny Bruce’s material.

To fuck a mockingbird… hold gently by the wings.

My recollection of this was George Carlin had the “unfuck you!” riff.

Hey, If you’re George Carlin, you can only steal from the best.

I remember the “Un-fuck you” routine from Carlin at Carnegie, where he expanded the seven words to something like 250 words you can’t say on television.

My favorite: Willie the One-eyed Wonder Worm.

Lenny also did a similar bit with regard to the word “cocksucker”.

Only if you ask nicely.
