George Galloway vs. the US Senate

I’ve only been able to see little snippets on BBC News 24, but I have to say…asshole or not (and I think he is something of a boor), Galloway has some balls to take it to the Senate Comittee in the way he did. Guilty or not it was bloody entertaining.

If anyone finds a transcript or better yet, video of his testimony. Please post it here.
Here’s the main article from the BBC. I believe CNN and other major US networks are also covering the story.

Gee, if you want a boor, look no further than the other side of the table. Norm Colman (R-MN).

sigh Again the Brits are involved in the boor wars.

Yeah he’s a prick but they didn’t touch him IMO.

He kept throwing it back at them and refused to let them gloss over things.

They gave him a very large soapbox and he used it.

It brightened up a otherwise boring afternoon.

I’m not seeing much of a Pitting here. Call me a starry-eyed optimist, but I think this thread has the potential to stay civil. (If not, well, I guess we’ll see if back here again.)

Off to MPSIMS.

So somebody with stong feelings about Galloway or what he said now has to either break the rules of MPSIMS or start another pit thread

Nice way to kill this thread though.

There was Fox News guy (Eric something or other) on Irish radio talking about this.

He made all the same points that the committee made but again was stumped when asked about any proof of money changing hands. Statements from people that are now part of the US supported Iraqi government mean less that nothing IMO without proof that Galloway actually received money.

They said the money went through his charity but as Galloway said the charity was totally checked by a government committee in Britain and nothing was found in the accounts.

The timeline of the documents mentioned was interesting as Galloway said that they made very big mistakes with them.

There’s a video available on the BBC link in the OP now BTW.

That pun was deviant, diseased & an offense against the Western World, NurseCarmen.

I’m so proud of you!

It was well worth the money I spent on having you cloned!

I just wanted to cheer you up is all.

I was joking, Nurse!

I am cheered up!

I liked the bit when he said he had met Saddam Hussain the same number of times that Donald Rumsfeld had !

Link to exact text.

As an American citizen-I find myself cheering mr. Galloway on.

stiff left, then a right cross, and the uppercut for last!

Bloody well played, sir!

Video.

Wow.

That’s only the last third of his statement in the video.

He really made Norm Coleman look like an idiot.

Da-yamn.

Wow indeed.

If anybody has a link to the full statement please post it, this looks like great theatre!

See post #11 for the link.

Holy crap.

What do you think the odds are that U.S. officials won’t ask this guy to testify in public about anything ever again?

How the hell did I get here? What is this place!

Oh, I see, it is a discussion of the (very nice) clip that NurseCarmen provided on another thread, albeit without explanation of context.

 That being said, does anyone want to give me a description of how the senators reacted at the time? Wild claims, interruptions, expressions like they just smelled rotten milk, or what?
