I’ve only been able to see little snippets on BBC News 24, but I have to say…asshole or not (and I think he is something of a boor), Galloway has some balls to take it to the Senate Comittee in the way he did. Guilty or not it was bloody entertaining.
If anyone finds a transcript or better yet, video of his testimony. Please post it here. Here’s the main article from the BBC. I believe CNN and other major US networks are also covering the story.
I’m not seeing much of a Pitting here. Call me a starry-eyed optimist, but I think this thread has the potential to stay civil. (If not, well, I guess we’ll see if back here again.)
There was Fox News guy (Eric something or other) on Irish radio talking about this.
He made all the same points that the committee made but again was stumped when asked about any proof of money changing hands. Statements from people that are now part of the US supported Iraqi government mean less that nothing IMO without proof that Galloway actually received money.
They said the money went through his charity but as Galloway said the charity was totally checked by a government committee in Britain and nothing was found in the accounts.
The timeline of the documents mentioned was interesting as Galloway said that they made very big mistakes with them.
There’s a video available on the BBC link in the OP now BTW.
Oh, I see, it is a discussion of the (very nice) clip that NurseCarmen provided on another thread, albeit without explanation of context.
That being said, does anyone want to give me a description of how the senators reacted at the time? Wild claims, interruptions, expressions like they just smelled rotten milk, or what?
