I went off over this about a month ago in the Pit when someone attributed these to Gore.
These quotes are NOT made up, as Phil said. Neither are they Bushisms. Virtually every one can be attributed to Quayle. There may be one or two made up ones that I missed, but the vast majority are Quayleisms.
No need to make up lies about these guys. There’s plenty of true stories.
I must second Bumbazine and Flymaster in their desire to dislike the man based on his record and statements, not goofy lies.
Wrt Adam Kleimer (sp?), Bush said he wished he hadn’t been overheard. And, speaking of the DUI, he said “I regret it happened”. I guess it’s hard to take responsibility when you’ve been bailed out and given easy moneymakers.

Uh…nothing people mass-forward in emails is EVER true. When are people gonna realize this?
It makes me sad that people believe the urban legends and other such fiction sent in forwards.
It makes me even more sad that these people would base decisions like who to vote for on these emails.

Uh, he paid like a $500 fine and lost driving priveleges in the state of Maine for some period of time. I’m guessing in 1976 those were fairly common DUI penalties. So how exactly did he get “bailed out”?
Hell Phil, that’s a stiffer penalty than I got in 1980. And I stuffed my car into a house. It certainly doesn’t appear to me that Bush was “bailed out.”
