I’m sorry I didn’t get back to the thread sooner, but I’ve been spending a lot of time with Beener (my kids’ name for her), trying to help her sort things out and decide what to do. I really appreciate you guys relating your similar stories - I’ll share them with her and let her know she’s not alone.
Evilbeth - yes, I still live in this pit of an area - I don’t know what the name of the church is, but it’s somewhere in Washington County, toward Mendota. I’ll ask her for the name. I had no idea there were others on the board from here!

And to the people who mentioned it, I don’t consider myself a Christian. I do a lot of decidedly unChristian things, but I like to consider myself a struggling moral agnostic. 
Everyone else has given great advice; I would like to add that Sabrenia should consider some psychological counseling to help her with this. It’s easy for us to say that church is evil, her parents are completely misguided, and all she has to do is not go there anymore, but I suspect she is feeling very confused, guilty, angry, etc. Your support is very good, but I think she may need a professional’s guidance out of this mess as well.

You can let Beener know that she has the support and probably the prayers of more people than she knows. This shit doesn’t go over well with anyone no matter what their beliefs are.
This agnostic has run into fundiemaniacs like this before; a lady I worked with was so deep into one of these groups there was no way for her to get out. She did whatever the pastor asked and his word was inviolate. Scary.
Some people actually like to have their every action and thought dicatated to them by some self serving hypocritical sack of shit. I have never been one of those people and Beener doesn’t sound like she belongs in that camp either. She should file civil and criminal charges against the pastor as he is the one that probably orchestrated this action and is ultimately responsible.
Maybe she could get the Rolls as part of the settlement.

I think a visit from a lawyer to this bunch would be very nice for them.
I believe that tax returns are available for inspection in the US, I wonder what is on the Minsters tax return.
