Todays Tribune comics included a reprint of Get Fuzzy along with the explanation that the current strip was not appropriate to their standards of taste. Come on, it’s cute but hardly offensive, right? Here.
I guess it was the implied “shitty” that alarmed the Trib.
Hmmm Chicago is the windy city?
It’s fair and it’s art.
Boo! I think it’s cute. Of course, it doesn’t spell it out, but that’s the “problem”.
What’s so offensive about the word “Shin-bitty?”
If any of you feel offended, stick your head in a barrel of shaving cream.
The strip made it into the Springfield paper. I’ll be watching to see if they get any sniffy letters.
…Shaving cream?
Why shaving cream?
Ah. Gracias.
Hell, that’s the closest that damn strip has come to being funny in some time, and the Trib decides to block it? :smack:
I’m sure the Trib reports on how many people were killed in Iraq on any given day, how many people were murdered/raped in Chicago, about the famine in Darfur and other hellholes, about how the government is buttfucking all of us, etc. Or do they just report on bunnies and kitties? The amount of obscenity taking place on the planet at any given moment far outweighs an implied potty word in a fucking comic strip, for cripe’s sake.
Apologies to mods for cursing; I’ll put $2.00 in the swear jar.
I disagree. Get Fuzzy has me rollin’ two or three times a week recently. I think Darby Conley is really hitting his stride. For example:

Chronicle had no problem running it in Houston. Somebody at the Chicago Tribune needs a life.
And of course they never think Blondie is controversial.
'cause…you know…it sucks.
Did they like today’s strip any better?
It isn’t even that bad since dog-sick equals dick. So it’s basically rude on a junior high school level.
Even that one where the woman called the Little League coach a scumbag and the punchline was that she was yelling at him so much because he was her husband? (I’m not making that up- that was a real strip, and quite controversial, too.)
Today’s strip was also replaced. My, but we are delicate here in Chicago.
Yeah, Get Fuzzy is one of only two or three comics I even look at these days. It doesn’t always make me lol, but it sure as hell has a better record than anything else. The strip the OP is about, though, isn’t funny. YMMV.
We may be the city of big shoulders, but those shoulders have brittle bones. :dubious:
