Get me out of the house in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 34 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 64 and partly N.O.S. for the day. Rain will be headed our way for tomorrow. I’ve been up a while but it took a bit to read through the thread, since I did not come back after I posted yestiddy mornin’ for some reason of which I do not know. Not much doin’ today which is fine by me. All this talk of cheeseburgers inspired me to take some frozen hamburger patties out of da freezer. Thus sup shall be bacon (fried while fully clothed TYVM) cheeseburgers, fixin’s and fries.

Die glad you survived the horsepistol.

MetalMouse I third, or is it fourth, the idea of goin to the Dollah Sto’ for a glasses repair kit or three. They do come in handy.

Nellie I would love to hear the stories. Sounds like they’d be fun to hear with a round or six of dirty martinis. I make a good dirty martini. I’m also good at makin’ classic martinis, but salacious stories call for the dirty ones IMO.

MOOOOOOM yay for stuff bein’ delivered and for MamaChik gettin’ her first vaccine!

Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, nougies, trouts, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s miserable outside, we’ve had sleet and snow so far today. Weather app says “Cold, annoying, rainy fucking bullshit” and promises me 1C/34F up to 2C/36F, cloudy with light rain/snow. Yeah, I can see that…

We are off into town shortly, have to go and visit the butcher in the local market and also the hardware shop for some bolts. I bought a contraption to hang cocktail glasses from but it arrived with a couple of screws to anchor it, and the place I need it to go requires a more sturdy kind of fix.

I’m just glad to get a couple of days off irk as it’s been particularly irksome this week. Our timetables were released and that always generates a barrage of emails from unhappy students. This time round it’s much harder to move things around because even our zoom classes have limits on capacity, and the few classes that we expect to return to in-person teaching will be limited too. That means every time I want to move someone into a class that is at capacity, I have to move someone else out. Then some poor sod in China wanted all his classes moved because our teaching day is 9am-8pm and he is 8hrs ahead of us…I’ve moved everything I can, but he’s still going to be attending classes at midnight!

What else is going on? Not a lot! I did another Rockfit class yesterday and my leg is much better today, there was lots of extra stretching as well (thank, gotti!) which seems to have helped. I was a lot more comfortable sitting down last night, and I got more sleep than the night before. I’ve just upgraded my Rockfit membership to the next level because there’s a 1.5hr rockathon that loads of people have been posting about but it’s not available on my membership level. I can upgrade for a month, do the extra classes on that level and downgrade again if I don’t care for them.

Fitbit still isn’t registering a heartbeat though, I think I might be in trouble

I never had any professors put the moves on me - not that one would expect that from engineering profs - but both my drivers ed teacher and my first pilot instructor were excessively friendly, and at least 20 years older than I was, so ick.

nellie - the multiple renditions of Wheels on the Bus aren’t as obnoxious to me as Barney was back in the day. I do find it amusing that while we sang “Ten Little Indians” my granddaughter sings “Ten Little Pandas” or “Ten Little Fingers”! Can’t knock it too much - she’s 2 and she can count to 20!

At least both critters know when I reach for the buttons to drop the footrest, it’s time for them to move!

Meanwhile, today’s fun includes cleaning the critter fountain and getting my first shot. FCD will drive, just in case I react, tho I don’t expect to. My only allergies are seasonal pollen and cats getting in my face. Not sure when the weather will move in, but we’ll hibernate anyway.

Happy Saturday!!

Good morning, Mumpers and Mumper-ettes.

We might hit 30 F today, although the oracles are definitely forecasting snow for tonight.

I’ve had a toaster pastry for mini breakfast and let the cats out so they can glare at the snow (Nikki) and chase imaginary … things (Monkey) and now it’s about time to shower up and slide into warm layers for the day.

'Tis Saturday, which means a few early risers will already be waiting in line, staring longingly at the empty window like dogs hoping something will fall off the counter while you cook.

Around noon or so, as the potheads finally get up, the fun will really start. It’s a busy job!

… and lost a thumb & pinky by morning (probably yanking on blankets) and another just eating my toaster thingy. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I’m telling ya, I’m HARD on my nails!

The two biggest have been located & will be re-glued after my shower, but I guess the tiny pinky is lost to the ages. Or will make a fun surprise reappearance in an inconvenient location.

This “looking purty” business is a P.I.T.A.

Yeah, that’s why I just never bothered with it. I tried to learn makeup as a teen - nope. I used to paint my nails, but nope. I got perms a few times - now, nope. I figure as long as I’m clean and my attire is appropriate for the occasion, I’m good. Saves me a ton of time and money, too!

FCM, nice chairs…it appears the beasts approve…

red, FCM, swampy, I have a couple of the screwdrivers from the kits, but I lost to screw and this one is so small I can’t find it and reattaching it would be a trick anyway. Best left to the Vision folks at Wal-Mart (and I need to pick up some stuff there anyways). But there is a Dollar store next to the Wal-Mart, so I might stop there.

shoe, I never understood women and nails…of course, mine aren’t exactly pristine…

boo fae, I’m sure you did your best; but students 8-10 time zones different have to adjust.

And I’ll be the designated driver for all you partiers…

Nettie, glad you enjoyed the treats (sounds like you earned them) and hope the Pep lads don’t find anything else on the car that ‘needs attention’.

OK, need to make myself presentable. Dishwasher has already begun it’s long cycle, which is probably my major accomplishment for the day. All y’all take care.

I walked/ran 8.5 miles yesterday. Not quite back up to my 10 miles, but getting there. I probably could have gotten that extra 1.5 miles in, but I got started way later than I wanted to and I was out of fuel. Need to pick up some stuff at the store today, so I get that last extra bit in.

There will be no time for walkies today; the kids will be here around 11:30 and the sun doesn’t even come up until 8:00 am here. Between VR and a possible park visit, I will get some sort of exercise in.

We received our fence estimate yesterday. Part of it blew down in a storm and rather than just do things piecemeal we decided to replace the whole back and one side portion of the fence. I should have had the guy measure the gate side too, as I’ve decided I want that replaced too. I will talk to him once he gives me a start date for the project. We were going to have a handyman do it, but he didn’t seem thrilled about some aspects of the project; I was leery about the whole foam post setting (doesn’t last as long as cement), and some other things. In the end, we decided to go with the pros; since they will also demolish and dump the old fence. By the time we added up renting a truck to haul stuff to the dump, dump fees, buying the material, and then actually having to help the handyman with the build, we decided the pros were the better way to go. Plus, there is a guarantee.

Well, I should commence with some tidying and get ready to head to the grocery store.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and a load of jeans in the wash, to be ready for the dryer before I begin KP. Not a lot on the slate today except grocery shopping, finishing the laundry and some of the Sunday chores. I’m trekking about an hour west of here tomorrow to pick up a FB Marketplace find for the studio, so having chores done ahead of schedule is a must.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

May mine be with a twist? That’s my favorite. Oh, and on the rocks please.

This partay is gonna be fun!

Did you just mention litter boxes a while back? I’d be looking there in about…36 hours, give or take.

I’ve got a load of towels and stuff in the dryer. The new TV is set up and logged in to most of the streaming services. My daughter needs to get Disney+ set up, and a couple of others she uses. And I need to learn the new remote - so far, I keep turning it off when I mean to go back… eeeesh.

We’ll be leaving in about 40 minutes for the Hollywood VFD - that’s where they’re doing the shots. They said don’t arrive more than 5 minutes early, so if necessary, we’ll just sit on the side of the road and wait our turn. Much rather be early than risk missing my appointment.

I think I’ll sort some of the mess here on and near my desk - crap is starting to accumulate. That and the critter fountain cleanage should fill my afternoon. Or not. We shall see.

If the bar’s still open I’d like a pint or so of dark & stormy, please.

doggio, that’s a great commercial! I like having the pipes make noises like that.

chefguy, I agree that not having a washer is inconvenient, but when I was a kid we went for years without having one. Even spent two years (5th-7th grades) in a house with no inside plumbing…

gotti, glad you found your ring! Lost mine at work one day, having dieted a bit too effectively; found it a day or two later trying to hide under my desk.

Y’all can keep the water-dwelling bugs prawns, but the rest of that list sure sounds good.

Somehow that’s not what I’d imagined Swiss winter weather to be like…

13 F (wind chill -2) here, but NOS; predicted high 24 and low 8. Our next snow is prdicted for Sunday night through Tuesday night.

All this talk about exercise is wearing me out. Think I’ll go take my morning meds and lie down for a bit…

Weather.com says we’ll get rain. NWS promises 3-5" of snow. So who knows what’s in store for us!! Only thing for sure is COLD!!!

As always, the nice fish&chips people provided a tasty meal, and we ordered the “crew meal”, plus a few side items, so we both have lunch today covered as well. Just remembered, must get out some ground beef to be taco-seasoned.

The Pep Boys guys (at least at our usual location) are good about such things. The one time they really pushed on the subject, they were correct that that tire REALLY needed replacement ASAP. I still insist that DH be involved in dealings with auto repair places. I’m female and know very little about cars. Might as well have “scam me” flashing in neon on my forehead.

If the party animals need a second designated driver, I’m good for that.

Waiting for grocery delivery. I had too many items for the babushka cart, which I’ve named Rolly, inspired by BooFae. One of the items was diet ginger ale. I know it’s not super-healthy, but I love that stuff and limit myself to two a day, max. Anyway, shopper says they’re out. Woe is me.

Let the Germans do their own homework, I say.

You’re my new best friend. I love dirty…martinis. I prefer vodka dirty martinis, if that doesn’t offend your sensibilities.

A wise decision, since we’re up to three rounds–four, if swampy’s dirty martinis aren’t included, and for those who’ve forgotten Dorothy Parker’s immortal lines,

I like a good martini,
*two at the very most. *
Three, I’m under the table.
Four, I’m under my host.

Actually, two and I’d be under my host…or, rather, his coffee table, though I might be on top of the bar, which sort of brings us full circle. P.S. I know I’m not the only one with stories. This could be a lost weekend.

Smart AND energetic AND charming! I foresee a bright future for that gal. Love those chairs, by the way, and you look positively svelte.

Now, see, I’d envision them as Dickensian waifs, all pale and sad and pathetically unimpaired. I like your dog simile better.

Yay! My groceries have arriveth  sans diet ginger ale. :frowning: Grocery delivery is like Santa bringing exactly the gifts you wanted…and paid for.

Glad to be of service! As the owner of a bad back, I’ve learned an awful lot about the things.

“Hardware shop”? Is “ironmonger” falling out of use over there? (Granted, I did learn BE by reading books written in the 1930s-'60s.)

Weather.com,

No, Discourse, I did NOT link to weather.com weather-dot-com – I merely mentioned it. And I know FCM already posted the link; if she hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to quote it! I hate these “smart” programmes that make me waste time and effort telling them that I didn’t say to do what they thought I said to do.

As I was saying, of weather-dot-com, accuweather, and weather-dot-gov I’ve found dot-gov to be by far the most reliable.

Did you know that hematomas can migrate? Wednesday it was a large purple blotch about the size of my face, reaching from just above my waist halfway down my buttock, and pretty much from one side of the cheek to the other. it now extends two-thirds of the way to my knee, and since lying on my side is more comfortable than lying on my back, it’s also gone past the centreline at the waist. Fortunately, the nurse warned me to expect this – it’s due to gravity, not additional bleeding.

I want to be able to visit my family and have them visit me.

I want to be able to get together with friends and play board games.

I want to be able to eat in a restaurant.

I want to be able to go see a movie.

I want to be able to got to a flea market. (Although it’s January so that’s not really on the table anyway.)

This sounds like a “Chopped” basket. I’ll have to check the recipe. Sorry your prof was such a jerk.

I solemnly propose a Zoom get together, if anyone is interested. Everyone can drink any/or eat what they like… Plus we get to meet “face to face” ish

FCM your living room looks downright fancy. I see that you almost have enough critters. How many are enough? One more than what you’ve got. :stuck_out_tongue:

Taters will your home insurance cover any of the fence costs?

Oh My

I saw the dr yesterday. I got two steroid shots, with instructions to report back on Monday. Also PAIN MEDS, oh blessed day. Suspects are pinched nerve, backbone shenanigans, bursitis (?!). I have a PT referral as well. Hopefully I’ll start seeing progress.

Today I plan to do computer things, read, and supervise dinner. Tonight might be steak or it might be mushroom risotto.

Happy Sattiday all.

I spend the whole morning heaving. Apart from the time we spent waitng because the 200 belt was overloaded, and we couldn’t have till it was unloaded. But it made me beer money.

that’s not nice, dammit. :stuck_out_tongue:

I knew I liked you for a reason, Herald.

: mixes extra large pitcher of martinis : :cocktail: :cocktail: :cocktail: :cocktail:

OK, laundry is done, naptime!
