Fresh air and sunshine in the MMP

On one level, the stay-at-home orders haven’t changed my life a whole lot. I’m retired - where am I going to go???

Yeah, I miss going to restaurants and taking Roxy to Wiggle-Giggle, but apart from that, I was home most of the time anyway. But I’ve been outside a lot more than I used to be. Luckily, our neighborhood is spread out enough that you almost have to go out of your way to get closer than 6’ to others.

I’m guessing there are people who interpret stay-at-home to mean lock up your doors and windows and draw the blinds. BAH! Everyone needs to spend some time outside, listening to nature and thinking random thoughts. I so decree it!

Happy Moanday! Go outside!!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and cafienatin’! YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and N.O.S. for the day. I agree MOOOOOOM not too different from how I lived before except really havin’ to think about it before goin’ to the grocery store or other errand type things so as to do as much as possible whilst out. Also miss goin’ to church. Yestiddy’s virtual Palm Sunday was neat, but really missed the Procession of The Palms and all that good stuff. Oh well, it is what it is right now. Today we shall change up the routine and accomplish mowage instead of spiffin’ da cave. Let’s hope this does not cause a rip in the time and space continuum.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Happy Monday, mumpers! It is a lovely day out there and today has been deemed grocery shopping day. It’s been about 10 days since we last went to the proper supermarket, we’ve had a couple of trips to the local shops for essentials but now we need to properly stock the fridge again.

We took the govt’s advice rather literally over the weekend, stayed inside and watched films but today I definitely feel the need to get outside for a little bit. Also, I need to post some documents back to the solicitor so they can close mum’s bank account once the probate documents are complete so I need to find a post office or somewhere that sells stamps so I can get that sorted out.

But first, I need a cup of tea!

Good morning everyone. To the OP, I’ll get out in the sunshine as soon as we get some. It’s been weirdly cloudy for weeks in good ole’ Tejas. 63 with a high in the 70s today, and maybe sunshine a few days. We’ll see.

As to the stuff happening, li’l ole prepper me just sits, watches the panic and thinks “Hmm, shortages happen – imagine that.” Nothing’s changed here except staying in a bit more and a college kiddo underfoot between online classes (commuted before). Probably head out on the lake for some fishing after breakfast, but will keep all other boats at a comfortable social distance. If they get too close I’ll subject 'em to high volume Polka music. Always worked before.

The idea of Polka music from a fishing boat cracked me up! I grew up around polkas - my dad and my uncle were DJs on a weekly polka program for years. But no one ever fished. The juxtaposition is, um, interesting.

We’re promised a nice day, so I’ll be hanging the laundry out to dry. And I’m hoping to finish the work on Roxy’s tower. But my feet hurt, so I’m moving like an old lady. (And the peanut gallery can hush!) I have a vibrating foot bath thingie - I may dig that out when my chores are done.

Morning… uhh… afternoon all.

We had rain last night; first time in 2 weeks, but it’s N.O.S again today. Spring will be sproinging away looking lovely, and I’m stuck in :frowning:

I’m definitely starting to lose track of time a bit now, it is Moanday, right? And I’m not allowed to eat the chocolate aigs yet? Just checking.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Looks like it’ll be a nice day. I have a dog, so I have to go out frequently.

One week. Two weeks if you’re Greek Orthodox, but they get twice as many chocolate aigs for their budget.

Morning all. Fresh air and sunshine, just what the doctor (me and FCT) ordered. I normally keep to myself, and the stay-at-home advice is wise and sound.
I am about to break that rule and venture into the deep woods, or maybe to the beach. Have not decided yet.

Today the daylight is arriving from the west/east. We had frost upon the yard and I saw a pair a robins digging for worms or grubs or whatever so that is good news.
Best wishes to everyone … stay safe and stay sane.

ETA: I meant FCM. Take care.

Jeans are out on the line and a load of shirts is in the washer. One more load after that.

I just built a meatloaf for the freezer. Roxy found a rock that enthralled her, so I washed it.

And I finally put my spider plants outside. One nearly died of lack of watering, but I soaked them all, and I’ll throw some food on them later.

Once the laundry is done, I’ll finish the tower. Then I intend to rest. All this physical labor is kicking my butt!!! Shouldn’t I be in a rocking chair, knitting and watching my stories?? Isn’t that what grandmothers do?

pullin, while I may not be a prepper, as long as I have running water and electricity, there’s enough food, prescriptions, cleaning supplies and toiletries in my home for 90 days. Longer than that would be dicey and pointless, given that once the insulin is gone, I’m on borrowed time.

Up, caffeinating, getting ready to address the Easter cards, will make an aig and milk run shortly, have a Zoom meeting with the boss and call the pharmacy. Other than that, mending is on the task list, I’ll work on the studio project and likely spend the afternoon reading on the patio and walking the dog along the greenway.

Back to Hades Annex today. Happy happy joy joy. At least the weather’s calmed down so I won’t be driving in rain. Oddly, even though there’s less traffic lately, the overall ambient level of stupid remains about the same. Apparently, the people who are still out there felt a need to step up their game.

I’m working from home now, and barn time is limited to 30 minutes per day and no riding. Consequently my activity level has dropped significantly. Every day I walk 2 miles outside. It’s been chilly but sunny. Perfect walking weather. Today I have to go to the tack store cuz Ariel lost her halter in the field and I’m down to the last one. She has lost/broken 5 in the last year. This is why we can’t have nice things.

swampie, I too missed Palm Sunday in person. It’s harder keeping track of the week as well, without Sundays to mark time.

To all of us wanting sunshine, I think we here will get some later, and I’m taking Mauser out to some walking trails for exercise. The dog park is closed for the duration, which annoys me.

I may go shopping for my mom tomorrow. My middle sister will be doing for her today, she has a specially arranged dental appointment. They are hard to get just now, as one may know.

Good morning all. Like the other retirees, staying at home is an adjustment I learned over the last several years, so it’s not a strain now. Still, been out on the rocking chair the last two days and since today is supposed to break 80F and lots of sun, I’ll be out there again.

Ordered my Monday Jersey Mike’s on-line, will leave in about an hour to pick them up and that’ll be about it. Don’t have 90 days of sustenance like Red and others, probably about 3-4 weeks, but stores are still pretty well stocked.

Everyone have a good week.

How charming. Arrived at Hades Annex to be shooed right back out because I didn’t have a return note from a doctor. That was the first I had heard about that little requirement, or I’d have had that on arrival.

I hear workplace communication is a good thing. Wonder if they’ll ever try it?

**FCD **had to take some pre-surgical paperwork to our local doctor’s office because they lost it. He’ll get an update from the surgical scheduler next week, but so far, he’s still on the books.

I’ve finished the construction on the tower. Now I just need to sew the canopy, and it’ll be done. Um, except for a hand rail - I want to discuss that with FCD. So almost done.

As soon as he gets back, I’ll make lunch. The sun has surrendered to the clouds - I may be forced to throw my laundry into the dryer after all. Dammit.

Stay at home orders haven’t affected me much - I’m carrying letters from Homeland Security and from Maryland explaining I am “essential”. Frankly I’d rather stay home. At least the commute is easier.

Even though I’ve had to come to work I wasn’t allowed in the building far a week - I had to work out of my car or in the station garage. After a week they realized I had too much business to attend in the building so I am now allowed in one door, down one hallway, my office and the nearby bathroom.

The station moved quickly to teleworking and we have about 5% of staff in building now. My job for the last 2 weeks has been setting up live remote gear in various anchors and reporters homes. Heaven forbid if I catch it I’ll be the station Typhoid Mary carrying it to everyone.

It’s been a pretty shit month. My mom passed in early March from pneumonia. If it weren’t for the fact it was before the virus came in the area and mom’s interaction with others was very limited (and she lived in the country) we could have believed she was a victim of Covid - her symptoms were quite similar. Because of the virus we had no funeral. Perhaps we’ll do something in a few months.

Glad to see all you regulars are still doing well!

{{{Tugig}}} - sorry to hear about your mom. I worry about mine - she’s 86. But in emails, she insists she hardly goes out, so that’s good.

Apart from being “essential” - how are you doing? You’ve been so long absent!

Yeah sorry about that. I was made manager a year and a half ago and I find I try to make my downtime truly off the grid as much as possible.

Otherwise life moves on. I’m putting my 2 children (who now live with me) through college. That’s been weird as they have moved to online classes. One is at U of MD and the other at community college.

Beyond that not much to report.
