Fresh air and sunshine in the MMP

Double post

{{{2gig}}} I’m sorry to hear of your mother’s passing.

Groceries are bought, Zoom meeting made, pharmacy not done yet :frowning: and I’ll do some patio rocking and reading this afternoon. Because the old bat freaked out and took the week off, that means that the weekend guy, whose wife is immunocompromised, and I (old, diabetic and asthmatic) have to appear in person more hours. Good paychecks, but frankly, I worry.

2gigch1, so sorry to hear about your mom. Ceremonial funerals help the living, and folks aren’t getting that now. My mom is 88, stays at home of course, but I still worry what would happen if she passed now.

Your kids are in the same boat as my nephew, classes from home. This was his first year of college, I’m glad he graduated from high school last year.

I hadn’t heard, until you mentioned it, about special authorization to be out.

{{2gig}}, sad news about your mom, and yea with the kids in college…you’re a good dad. And a manager to boot! Moving up in the world… And oh, BTW, it’s damn good to see ya here on the MMP.

Nettie, I imagine the Doc probably has some standard letter he can give you, but yeah, they should have told you first.

And FCM, our construction forewoman…hope the little one gets lots of joy from the set.

Lunch picked up and consumed (I get 2 sammiches, one for today and one for 2day), and I ordered some face masks via Amazon rather than go searching around the pharmacies. Also scheduled my annual physical checkup for next Tuesday the 14th. So I have been a somewhat responsible human being this morning, so I’m headed outside (84F) to read for awhile.

All y’all take care.

Just back from a quick trip to Food Lion. Their paper products aisle is still stripped, as is a chunk of cleaning products, but more meats and frozen foods are available.

As I was walking thru, some guy sneezed loudly and uncovered. Asshole. I was glad I had a mask.

Howdy! Hubby found a N-95 mask in his supplies he has for workers comp inspections. I have ordered some as well. The DOD has put out directives that all must wear them on DOD property.

I didn’t sleep well last night so Tahred today.

I still find all this extremely hard to believe. Crazy times.

Got our grocery order yesterday, so we’re set for awhile. I actually scored a bag of bread flour. Woot!

The damn cat decided she needed dessert last night and gnawed through the storage bag holding the cake I made yesterday. Then she hurled up all of her cat food. At least it was on the floor, not the carpet.

Great weather in store this week, possibly hitting 70.

Pulled the winter cover off the RV yesterday, reconnected the battery, etc. Even though it’s unlikely we’ll be able to take it anywhere this year, the routine of getting it ready was nice. I bought new tires for it on March 2nd, but they’re going to have to sit in the garage for the foreseeable future.

Called some old friends from our State Department days yesterday. They retired to Florida some years ago. They like living there, but hate that fucking governor and Rick Scott. They’re big into traveling, and have had to cancel a bunch of very expensive trips (we’re talking Viking Cruises, here). They were going to do the Amazon basin, Scotland, and some other places. Makes our cancelled plans seem pathetic by comparison.

Happy Moonday!

Nice day outside, the sun is shining and temps are in the 60s.
Lily came by for a playdate this morning, so the pups were happy.
She is teaching them bad habits, like how to dig holes.

It’s good to see you again 2Gig, I am sorry about your mom.

OAOASO let me know last night that his best friend (since kindergarten) died Saturday.
I try to get outside everyday, just to sit with the dogs.
I was going to go to the store today but we have enough water to get through until tomorrow.
I keep checking the online delivery, a delivery spot had opened up for Wednesday, but somebody else got it before I could.
I think I should just forget about online shopping for a while.

Sorry about your mom 2gig.

I wish I could get 90 days worth of all my meds. Unfortunately my insurance company hasn’t gotten the memo yet and is still limiting me to 30 days supply on some of them. I’ll have to order some of them again in a couple of weeks.

It’s been raining over here for a few days but is bright and clear and low 50s today. Gonna get warmer this week. We may be sorry we took the big air conditioner out of the living room window when we had the house painted. It’s too big and heavy for me, or us, to get back in there even if it wasn’t 10’ off the ground.

Wifey has to go to the valley tomorrow to view a house and I think I will go with her. There are some things I need to do at the ‘big house’.

Y’all take care and be anti-social out there.

Executive decision: The canopy will be sewn tomorrow. I’ve cut the fabric to its rough dimensions, but with laundry on the lines and supper to be made, I won’t have time to make it today. With luck, I can whip it out in a couple of hours tomorrow, and that will be that.

So until I have to bring the clothes in and cook up some sides, I plan to chill. Except I think I’ll put a couple of sweet potatoes in to bake. Yeah, I can manage that.

Good afternoon, Mumpers! I shall leave on my daily walk after I post this. They’re good for mind, body, and soul. And I’m grateful the lupus monster has been kinder to my hand and foot joints. It’s affecting my circulatory system, but that doesn’t keep me home.

When you all come in from your daily dose of fresh air, here’s a music video I love and that guarantees a dose of happiness–promise!

2gig, I’m so sorry about your mom. I’m also sorry you didn’t get the closure of a service of some kind. These are strange and difficult days.

FCM, that canopy sounds like a lot of work, but I imagine you’ll get a lot of satisfaction out of seeing the finished product every day.

Nettie, I hope getting a note from the doc isn’t a hassle.

pullin, so how long could you as a prepper manage without restocking? It must be easier if you’re not on meds. I can’t stockpile mine.

Did anybody find out what happened to **spidey? **

Got the doctor’s clearance from the tele-doctor and duly emailed. I’ve received a reply from grandboss acknowledging that message and she says there shouldn’t be any hassles tomorrow as far as administrivia.

I finally got my low-carb bread.

I celebrated by making a cheeseburger. (¼ pound beef patty, salt, pepper, a slice of American cheese, a Romaine lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Spicy Baken-Ets on the side.)

There’s something relaxing about taking clothes down from the line. I hang everything in groups so as they come down, I can fold and stack in the baskets - my shirts, his shirts, my jeans, his jeans, towels and such. All I have to do now is empty the baskets, which I’ll do once **FCD **gets up from his nap.

Meanwhile, the house smells nummy - chickie is rotissin’ and I’ve got a couple of sweet N.O.T.s baking in the toaster oven. In a little bit, I’ll load the steamer with broccoli, and I’ll make some instant smashed spuds (Judge ye not!!!) I need a good supper - my eating today has been on the random side.

**nellie **- the canopy will actually be very simple. It’s a rectangle with 2 pockets for the support poles to slide thru. I’ll iron the pieces first to set the hems - that way, I don’t need to use pins. The toughest part will be making sure it’s a consistent width along the length. But if I iron it accurately, the sewing part should be easy. Assuming my machine doesn’t get bitchy.

Huzzah, nettie! I just know how much you wanted to go back to work.

Well, I don’t want to, but my checking account and I disagree on this point.

nellie; thanks for the tune; it did brighten me up a bit, may put it on my facebook page and maybe spread it around some more.

nettie, wanna take odds on if you get in to work tomorrow without a hassle??:p;)

Sari, glad the dogs got a friend to visit.

Cookie, I was within 1-2 weeks of booking a major trip out west when things started to go badly and I decided to hold off. Glad I did, but now I’ve got to re-plan for the next several years. Hope they get their refunds promply.

Spent about 60 pages outside and reading this afternoon. Weather was perfect, some clouds to keep the sun from burning too much, but a wiff of a breeze and perfect temperatures made it nice. Inside now, need to find the even sustenance shortly.

Everyone take care.

FairyChatMom, I am one of the few people on the face of the planet who enjoys hanging clothes on the line. It’s a peaceful chore, and it gets you outside. Nothing in the world smells as good as clean sheets that dried outside!

I’m having a great giggle over the Polka dancing fish!

Bumbazine, check with your insurance company to see if they authorize the use of a mail order pharmacy for maintenance drugs. Those are blood pressure pills, cholesterol pills, the whatever pills and potions you’ll be taking for the rest of your life and beyond.

Typically, prescriptions for the mail order pharmacy are a ninety-day supply. Many insurance carriers do this because it costs them a lot less money. But be forewarned! You’ll need a dedicated place to keep the fifty-five gallon drums that hold all your pills!

Rain, rain, and more rain in SCal. Supposed to rain through Thursday. Maybe it can wash all the coronavirus out to sea?

I think Viking refunded without a squeak, but they’re a classier outfit than, say, Princess. I just saw an email from Delta that says they’ve upped their grace period on ticket vouchers to two years. I fly them whenever I go visit my kids every year, and they’ve always treated me right.

Read a couple of chapters out on the patio. It would have been more, but the neighbor dogs were out, so I let Nelson off his leash (there were three humans, including myself to supervise) and we played some serious fetch. He was tired enough that he took a good nap in my lap while I read. He really needed that.

I need to set the primary alarm tonight, as I have to irk at irk tomorrow and, likely, for the rest of the week.

Howdy Y’all! Mowage and other yahd irk got completed. Not only that, we spiffed da cave! Go Us! We had burgers ‘n fries for N.O.L. and any need to feed afterwards has been via forage. Also, very nice outside today so we et out on the back porch. Love bein’ able to do that!

{{{Gigity}}} so sorry about your mom! No matter how old we get it’s hard to lose a parent or parents. Congrats on the promotion!

Nellie thanks for the song. Really, really, really enjoyed listenin’. It is one of my all time favorite songs. Like MetalMouse I think I’ll post this on my book of faces page for others to enjoy.
