Well, got my Turbotax and the taxes are done, but…they need my Adjusted Gross Income from my 2019 taxes to E-file (why, I don’t know) and I lost my tax files when I migrated to a new computer last year, so… Back to the old-fashioned mail system. Probably will delay my refund a bit, but I’m not in dire need of it so I can wait for March…
Oh, since dogs have been mentioned, my brother and SIL lost their 3 Basset Hounds in the past 18 months (they were all older dogs) and have just gotten two new Basset puppies!!
{{quietly}}. Sounds like you need some.
And now to dividing up the Form 1099’s so that the right stuff gets mailed to the right folks. All y’all take care.
It’s raining steadily. I took the trash and recycling out for its bi-weekly pickup tomorrow. I went out to the shed to get a brown tarp, and I covered up the wood stack. It won’t help it dry, but it will keep it from getting wetter. Then I went and raked up the debris from the log-splitting.
I came in and towelled off my hair and flattened it with a brush. Mrs. L.A. said, ‘Did you take a shower?’ I said, 'In a manner of speaking… ’
I’m going to make a glazed, spiral-cut ham for dinner. I thought I might put it on at 14:00, but I think I’ll wait until half-past two.
22 F with no wind chill and a few clouds. Winter storm warning from midnight tonight until 0600 Tuesday, and a coastal flood advisory tomorrow night. They’re now saying 8-14 inches; I am, as usual, expecting about half that.
Breakfast was a freshly nuked mini-pizza and strawberry jello with peaches. There’s a pot of chili on the stove for this evening.
Didn’t wake up until after noon, and it’s already after 1630, so I’m not going to bother getting dressed today.
Howdy Y’all! The makin’ and eatin’ of Sunday N.O.L. (I got in gear and we had a proper noontime N.O.L.), cleanin’ up afterwards, nappage and general futzin around were today’s activities. Actually, the futzin’ part continues. Any more need to feed will be via forage. Also, it’s rainin’ hard out, so the biiiiiiiiiiig trash can can wait until early tomorrow mornin’ to get hauled all the way down to the road. Allegedly, the rain will stop by early evenin’. We shall see.
{{{Quietly}}} just cause.
Sunny now I want fancy gin in fluorescent colors!
Herald I showered and cleanded myself up this mornin’, but I donned jammie pants, a tshirt, my robe, and slippers afterwards so you can say I’ve not bothered to get dressed today as well. Just wanted you to know you have company there.
MetalMouse yay for gettin’ your taxes done! Maybe we will motivate to do so this next week. Or not. We tend to be slackards.
Snow stopped a couple of hours ago - we got maybe 2" - hard to tell since some was melting while it was falling.
I finished assembling the lap robe and I was edging around the outside when I decided I needed a salad. Supper has been ingested and I’ll return to my edging shortly.
The RoxStar played in her first snow. Daughter got video of her thrown snowballs of a sort. Then she built a snowman of a sort. Looked like she was having fun.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to tread the mill today or not. Serious attack of the lazies, yanno. I may surrender to the chillage…
I swear, working Sundays is my reward for working Saturdays. Yesterday sucked and a bunch of crap happened with my co-irkers (plus the day before) that I apparently had bottled up. Badly.
Spent last night tossing and turning and pissed off about this & that - including my innate inability to deal with problems on the spot, or even to be able to articulate that there’s a problem, let alone what it might be.
Today was the crew of my favorites, plus Sundays are low traffic anyway. Why can’t some of the Saturday crowd wait a day, dammit?
We got about 2 maybe 3 inches of snow here overnight last night.
My neighbor is retired & maybe a bit bored (and has both a plow attachment on his truck AND a snow blower) so lucky for me, my driveway and sidewalk “magically” clear themselves while I am away at work.
The big bin is at the curb - I know all y’all were waiting impatiently for that update.
I should finish off last night’s noodles. But I hate leftovers, and especially ones I “should” eat. I may run out and grab something. Haven’t decided.
I just figured it out! The noodles were good but “naked” and really could use some sauce.
So imma go back to the same place tonight and swipe some of the General’s chicken. It comes with plenty of yummy sauce, crispy meat, and … not much else.
Combined with last night’s noodles, I should have the making of a reasonably balanced meal.
And by “balanced” I mean not a vegetable in sight and my multivitamin already queued up.
metal mouse, basset hounds do have a way of stealing your heart. If I didn’t live in an apartment, I’d consider a mini basset. After my old dog Fred, I know that they are definitely not a critter you want to be next door to with only a wall between you.
I picked up my Marketplace buy. The seller tried to push the time to earlier and it was like, I’m on my way, but I’m an hour from you. I’m not going to get there when you want to meet. I wound up driving 10 extra miles to meet her at the restaurant where she and her husband had lunch. Nelson and I took the scenic route home (US70 and US70S/US41). I even managed to get the mending done while supper was in the oven.
Tomorrow begins another week. At least I’ll likely be able to bug out early Friday.
Oh, swiping a wee bit of the General’s chicken was a fabulous idea. I didn’t even get the noodles out of the fridge - they can wait till tomorrow (with the sauce remnants) so I’m not eating the same thing two nights in a row.
Assimilated some ice cream, and am watching a show on Netflix about glass blowing! It’s perfect for me - I’ve always been fascinated by glass art, it’s a reality competition so there’s no romance, or plot arcs involving lost love or any of those lovely triggers, and there’s all these pretty, colorful bits of art to look at!
Having slept so badly last night, I expect to be in bed by 9 p.m. like the rockstar I am. Working the closing shift tomorrow, so I can sleep in as long as I like.
See y’all on the flip side in the new MMP, my sweet (and occasionally, not so sweet - but still adorably lovable) Mumpers.
I walked–I mean hiked–down to the waterfront. I figured since it’s raining buckets, couldn’t get any wetter–then to the grocery store to get something I forgot to order yesterday, so a total of 5+ miles. The waterfront has informative signage here and there, and some idiot tagged one so that it was unreadable. I got out an unused credit card and scraped until it was clean again. Thus I try to redeem myself.
{{{{Quietly}}}} Those emotional landmines are hell, and sobbing for half an hour after encountering one is completely understandable. Walking 5 or 6 miles is my way of coping with my own recent grief. Soggy weather emboldens the wuss in me to insist I don’t need it, but the fact is, I do. I still feel like running screaming down the street, but walking tires me out enough that I don’t stay awake until the wee hours crying about it. I guess that’s a form of cowardice, but I just can’t seem to cope otherwise.
Evening all. Mickey D’s took care of dinner tonight, so while the Big Mac is assimilating, I’m getting the envelopes ready for the Tax forms. Getting money back from the Feds, and almost as much from the state of Ali-bama. They don’t tax Government pensions (about 80% of my retirement) and with their deductions, I show no income for the year so I get all the taxes I payed them for my Annuities back. Yeah me.
red, when I visited Brother in the past, at least once during the stay the three Bassets he had would set to baying loudly, apparently at what invisible creatures inhabit that part of the planet. Noisy they could be. And since my niece’s Mastiff grew up around them, he tries to bay like them…with modest success…
herald, a clothing-optional day is always on the table. Hope you don’t get too much snow.
flyboy, I know you just wanted a shower, but there is modern plumbing these days…
Alright,on to internettin’ and readin’ for the balance. All y’all take care now and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
About 50 years ago, I used a darning needle and a wine cork to pierce my left earlobe. About 20 years ago I put a CBR (captive ball ring) in that ear an just left it alone. There was a possibility that I would have had to remove it for my recent surgery and in the lead up to it I started looking for a replacement. Of course all I could find were pairs. Sunflower suggested that if I lost my ear ring Ii should just pierce the other ear. They just put a band aid on it.
We often walk laps at the local mall. Today as we walked I just stopped at a place that will pierce ears and went in. again, they only sell pairs, so I now have two new ear studs in my right ear. The girl that operated the gun said that she does babies and little girls. I was her oldest client ever…
Thought I would let y’all know, since I am sure it is a matter of great concern for everyone, that it stopped rainin’, so I hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Thus, I have adulted. Also, it started rainin’ again and just stopped. Is the rain gone for good? Will there be more durin’ the night? Oh, the suspense!
divorce? erm did i miss the invite for making it official ?
anyways im back to what passes for normal for me … you know I’m usually an unmotivated bum but the side of the family I live with believes “work makes you free” so they have no idea on how to not to do anything which drives me nuts seriously my aunt is a hyper FCM when it comes to chores …so there’s always a minimum amount of strife but it just gets tiring …At least we don’t have to move out until june now ,
anyways just strong-armed aunt into ordering del-taco so at least dinner won’t have much clean-up… anyways see yall next week …
It’s Monday morning here on the other side of the Pond. No snow for us, just overcast and gloomy. I see on the Beeb that your East Coast is about to be (or already is) buried in the white stuff. Good job you are all isolating then.
Took our car in to the dealer on Friday for a recall on the steering gear. This is a bit of a saga as the Murican version of the same car (Ford Fusion) was recalled last year for the same fault, but our lot didn’t seem to think that it was a problem here. At least, not until, instead of £5 worth of parts and two hours labour, they were forking out for new steering racks at £1500 plus.
DW is still abed; she has not been too bright the last few days. I will give her another half-hour and take her a mug of tea. She is probably sitting up - it’s an electric recliner - and listening to the daily pop quiz.
The highlight of my day today, and a reason to get dressed, will be replenishing the bird feeders and putting the bin out. Green for recycling this week.
Talking of fences - we had ours done last year. the posts are concrete and indestructible. The panels just slot in and can be replaced as needed. Both sides are shared and it’s not clear who owns which fence. In a street of houses, one house will end up ‘owning’ two fences. Luckily, we get on well with our neighbours and agreed to split the cost.
nellie a traditional ironmonger is a supplier of goods such as door handles, locks, hinges, and similar fittings for windows. They might also supply garden items like baskets, fencing, fixings for gates and stuff like that. A hardware store carries a much more varied line of stock and would be the place to go for paints, wallpapers, brushes etc. There is a crossover of equipment like hammers and suchlike, but the main distinction is that a hardware store will also sell you any amount of decorative tat that an ironmonger would not give houseroom
quietly it’s perfectly acceptable to sit on the floor and wail if that’s what you need to do. Things like that hit you at unexpected times, and you deal with it however you need to. Wrestling the sheet out of the washer sounds like it was a proper battle though!
