Yes, frequently. I begin answering a question and start thinking about the implications of my answer, and what those implications then lead to, and pretty soon I’m trailed off on a mental tangent and am staring off into space, and the questioner thinks I’ve lost my mind.
Are you interested in astronomy?
Yes. I was just at our local planetarium a few weeks ago, and enjoy the Planetary Society magazine every month.
Have you ever looked through a telescope at the Moon?
I know I’ve looked through a telescope before but I can’t remember what I was looking at. I’d assume it was the moon but not really sure. I really want to buy a telescope once I can afford a really good one. For now, I’m content with looking up at the sky on clear nights

Yes. 1987. Outside the US Embassy in Managua.
Do you enjoy indie films?
They’re pretty much the only films I am interested in. Blockbusters rarely grab my attention.

Yes, but it wasn’t until AOL Instant Messenger came along that I was actually able to do it.
Sigourney Weaver… hot or not?
Less so with each passing year, IMHO. At the time of Alien and Ghostbusters, definitely hot.

Probably not as much as I should.
Do you believe in magic?
Legerdemain and sleight of hand, yes. Wizards and witches tapping into cosmic powers, not so much.
Have you ever seen a magician do something you just couldn’t figure out?
Tons of times. Which is why I’m very grateful for Penn & Teller, who routinely show us schmucks how it’s done. And every time they do this, I go “Woaaaah” louder than for the actual magic trick 
Even eaten snails/escargots ?
Once. Hideous experience. I never knew the snais were stuffed into the shells by hand!
Do you wear high heels/dress shoes?
I wear dress shoes when it’s necessary… Job interview, dinner, meeting, etc. Other than that I wear shoes or slippers…
Have you ever won a big prize from anything like the lottery, sweepstakes, or a contest?
Not me, but my wife was entered into a drawing at work for donating part of her paycheck to United Way, and won round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. We’re going to NYC in May.

Yup, for a few days back in -98. I even went to the top of WTC and was stopped by security (my sunglasses pinged). On the same day I was stopped by security at the NYSE (same reason), but managed to “bribe” myself in by giving them some donuts
Ever eaten horse meat?
Not that I know of, although some of the stuff I was served at college was rather suspect.
Ever call in a vote for American Idol or a similar competition?
“Call in,” no, but I have cast votes for Dancing with the Stars online many times.
Did you vote in the most recent election for President (or PM or whoever) of your country?
I have a very vague understanding of politics and until I have a better understanding I won’t be voting.
Are you against legalizing marijuana?
No, I support legalising it.
Have you ever seen a total solar eclipse?
Once - the 1999 one. Watching it was fraught with danger, fashion designer Paco Rabanne had announced the Mir station was going to crash where I was on holidays, killing thousands. As far as I know, it didn’t happen - but *they *might have hushed it up of course.
Speaking of which, have you ever been to a fashion show ?
Not that I recall… maybe a lame one for a local designer, but definitely no big ones.
