Getting back Extended Desktop

My work laptop died recently - hard drive ceased living. Nothing found was the diagnostic. Waiting for a replacement from the states through our organization is useless. I grabbed a old hard drive from an expired laptop at home [actually newer than my work machine]; put it in, it was recognized so off to the local IT folks for a re-image. Came back fine with the standard suite of programs - good.

Only shows a basic VGA monitor. There is no option for the extended destop. I can’t open “advanced options” - not an admin.

I have the same working external VGA monitor that functioned fine before the hard drive swap.

Did Admin change some setting? Anything I can get to? Yeah, I have a ticket in to the IT folks but holding my breath until blue hasn’t prompted them.

Maybe they changed the driver for the monitor?

Don’t know which version of Windows you’re using, but this article might help.

Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit.

It sounds like the driver for your video card is not installed (or not functioning for some reason), so the system has fallen back to the ‘standard VGA’ driver. If that’s the case, then without admin access there’s nothing you can do about it.

Never mind, not admin.
