I’ve been playing a little Dominions 4 since I bought it on Steam sale a month or so back. Does anyone else play and have any tips for a noob? It seems to have a bit of a learning cliff, with lots of options and systems to play with up front.
I fancy myself a pretty decent gamer, and Dominions 4 mostly involved me staring at the screen uncomprehendingly. It’s like an even less accessible version of Paradox games like Europa Universalis.
Probably the best bet is to forgo trying to learn it yourself and just watch some YouTube vids.
It is not a newbie friendly game, creating your pretender requires very good knowledge of the culture you are going to play. The basics of the game are fairly easy to pick up, watching a few tutorial videos should be more than enough. Learning how to tailor your pretender to your civ/era is one of the main keys, and until you figure things out on your own it’s best to look up some recommended preset ones to start with.
