Getting over being dumped comedies

Working on a (comedy) screenplay where a guy is getting over an especially tramatic breakup. Thought I’d research some other movies in a similar vein.

A few that come to mind are Better Off Dead,The Lonely Guy and Say Anything. Can you help me name some more?

High Fidelity… Swingers… Singles… Memento (heh)… St Elmos Fire maybe.

I read the thread title as: ‘Getting over being dumped by comedians.’

Yes, Swingers is an excellent choice.

Albert Brooks’ Modern Romance and Burt Reynolds’ Starting Over

High Fidelity! That’s a great movie about break-up obsession. Singles is also fantastic. Surprised I didn’t think of that one, myself. Pretty much everyone gets dumped at some point in Singles.

I just remembered The Wedding Singer, as well. Fun example of post break-up blues ala comedy.

Oddly enough, The Odd Couple falls into this category.

Modern Problems with Chevy Chase and No Small Affair with Jon Cryer, though in the last one he’s spurned rather than dumped, but he still takes it pretty hard.
