One thing I see is that one has to go to the bottom
of the thread list to find new threads.
also as today was my first trip here
I am still finding my way around.
tho it is handy to get an email when someone
has posted in or on one’s thread.
Rhino, If you go to the main page (the one that lists all the forums), right under your name on the right hand side is a url that will take you to the newest posts since you were last logged on.
I hope that is what you were looking for, otherwise, I’d feel real stooopid.

Rhino, the Pit is for complaints and rants, and also discussing moderating decisions. An introductory thread such as this goes in the MPSIMS (Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share) forum, so I will move it there. MPSIMS is a good place for new posters to get acquainted with our message board community.
Personally, I advise going to the home page ( www.straightdope.com ) and reading the newest article by Cecil or the Straight Dope Advisory Staff each weekday. Then check out Threadspotting, which is usually good for a laugh. After that, you can browse the forums according to your tastes or needs. For instance, the Cafe Society is a great place to discuss just about any sort of art, while Great Debates always has intense discussions on hot topics. General Questions is the REAL purpose of the Straight Dope, though, and it’s always worthwhile to check out the threads there. However, again, it’s up to you to find your niche here, and figure out what you’re most interested in.
