So, some Japanese and American researchers have videoof the giant squid, live.
I’m scared. They’re coming!

Imagine the calamari… Mmmmm
Brace for some new Japanese art: “The Nightmare of the Fisherman’s Wife.”
Um… was this ever in doubt? Are there giant squid skeptics out there?
“These so-called ‘giant squid’ are nothing but hoaxes, like mermaids or ostriches. The government plants that evidence to scare people away from the ocean, so they can’t measure sea levels to prove global warming is a fraud. My cousin knows a guy who was contracted to manufacture giant squid in an underground factory in Nevada.”
Sort of. AIUI, while the existence of a species of giant squid has never been in serious doubt, just how “giant” they can get has been a matter of some debate. The upper estimations of their size was derived by measuring sucker scars on sperm whales, but it wasn’t clear if those scars had been gained when the whale was full grown, or had been received when the whale was immature, and then stretched to a larger size as the whale grew. I believe more recent research has confirmed the larger estimates to be correct.
That is absolutely beautiful.
(And Bob, sorry, but they maintain neutral bouyancy through an ammonium chloride solution in their flesh. Makes them inedible for humans.)
