I’m desperate! Any ideas are welcome. I’m asking everybody I know (and clearly lots of people I don’t)
Mom is so not 60 yrs. old. She’s more like, I dunno, 47.
She’s a psychotherapist, kinda new-agey (OK, pretty darn new-agey, she’s got her own channeler). She loves NPR, epecially “Car Talk”. She hates sports.
Ummmm…she’s a great mom and deserves something really special, but I don’t know what. She’s already got too much stuff and not enough money, so what she’d probably really like is some form of money, like a gift certificate, but giving money to my own mom feels really weird, and I bet she’d feel weird getting it.
does she like to travel ? maybe you can arrange a trip for her ? i have no idea what your budget is, but is there anything not too far that’s interesting ? even just a weekend away could be quite nice.
I like Kalhoun’s idea. Another thought I had, if you can swing it, is a cruise. Cruises are great. My 76 year old mother went on one this past January and had a blast. If she’s into it, a gift certificate to a nice day spa would be a great gift. A facial, a massage, a pedicure, a manicure, a nice lunch, a wrap, the works. Sounds like fun to me.
Carlotta, for my mothers 80th birthday, my sister bought her 80 small presents from second hand stores. You know, really crap stuff like jigsaws and such. Each was individually wrapped.
For my 50th birthday, my neighbour bough me 50 cans of beer.
