Obviously your cynical empirical obxervation has been proven wrong, but even if this was her first Mother’s Day, that would mean it’s also her husband’s first Father’s Day, and I sure don’t see a problem with her trying to make it a great one for him.
What about metal detecting or geo-caching? If the kid is 3 she can easily ride along in a backpack carrier so no babysitter needed.
It sounds like you have a very good relationship. He sounds really thoughtful. I myself am not very good at hobbies of the artistic nature (painting, woodworking, etc) but I wish I was. I think if he has even a little bit of talent, he would find the suggested artistic hobbies really fun and relaxing.
Also, there is always cooking, maybe if he likes cooking, or shows even a little interest, some pans, a cookbook, and ingredients for something he might like to cook would be nice.
Has he ever talked about learning a musical instrument?
I like the model rocketry idea - there seems to be an intersection between computer games and model rocketry hobbyists.
This is a fabulous idea! I’m also going to look into the model rocketry and the model planes (especially one with a camera, though that sounds pricey and difficult to control) but I’m thinking all new hobby ideas every month might be a perfect gift.
