Gilmore Girls, SERIES FINALE! *open spoilers*

Wow, I can’t believe that’s it. After 7 years, no more Gilmore Girls.

I’m really glad that Rory got a job that fits her in the end. I knew that Lorelai and Luke would end up together in the end, and the way he arranged the going away party totally fit with him and how close he is with the Gilmore girls.

All of the ties were tied up quite nicely, but I still wish it weren’t the end. Why couldn’t Gilmore Girls continue and 7th Heaven - who had their proper ending already - die in their place? It’s not fair. It feels like I kinda lost a friend, as weird as that sounds. I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls for the past 7 years so the end seems too abrupt. Rory and I are of similar ages so what she went through was what I went through in school. Now that she’s graduated, I guess I have to move on as she is and experience the world.

I hate to admit it, but a few parts of tonight’s show made me cry a little. I’m glad that Rory got the proper send off and tonight’s show was nothing but positive feelings and actions.

Goodbye Gilmore Girls, it was wonderful watching your lives unfold.

is sad because now that Friends and Gilmore Girls are done, she doesn’t have any shows to look forward to anymore

I thought the show was forced last night. But I also missed part of it because of a phone call. :frowning:

Will someone tell me what Emily spoke with Lorelai at the party about?

She kept trying to get Lorelai to make some kind of addition to the inn. When Lorelai turned down the spa idea, Emily suggested a tennis court, and told Lorelai that she and Richard would lend her the money, and that they would have to get together periodically to check the progress. Lorelai realized that Emily was trying to figure out a way of staying in touch now that the semi-mandatory Friday night dinners were coming to an end, and offered to continue the dinners without Rory.

What I loved was, while Rory & Lorelei were having their midnight breakfast at Luke’s, when the big van pulls up on the town square. An awakened flustered Taylor Dosey yells that they can’t park there, and Pastor Eric Camden leans out the window & says “It’s OK. We’re on a mission from God.”
Well, that’s what happened in my head!

I thought they tied up all the loose ends nice enough. I’ve been very disappointed with GG most of this season but the last three episodes were pretty good. I’m glad Rory has that job because it’d be good for her to be on the road experiencing the life of a reporter on the go. Ok, it’s not like there’s gonna be any follow-up to that but still, I think it’s good. Lorelai and Luke… I swear it looked like they were just gonna do it right there in the middle of town!

I thought the going away party was nice. I like the way Richard, Emily and the girls sorta tied things up there. Taylor made me queasy with his speech about the town giving birth to Rory, but then again, classic Taylor, even the “unofficial” town meeting thing. That was a great scene!

I’m with Penchan about missing the show now that it’s over. Course it’s on every day in reruns on The Family Channel. Still, no new ones ever. I get caught up in very few shows and Og knows why this one caught my attention in the first season, but it did and I really liked it.

ETA: FriarTed one of the scenarios that played out in my head was Kirk finally snapping, climbing the gazebo and picking off all the characters one at a time.

I’m glad to see that the director and the writer(s) of this episode did their homework. The final shot of Lorelei and Rory at Luke’s, with him putzing around in the background, was the exact same shot that the very first episode ended with. Nice bookending there, and to me it showed that this show was alwways about Lorelei and Rory, together, with life going on all around them.

I’m not too proud to admit that I teared up a little at the end with Richard, Emily and the GGs.

But you know, Sophie should have been there too at the party. (Carole King). Her character was never a big part of Rory’s life (her scenes were mostly with Lane), but she did rerecord “I Will Follow” with her daughter Louise Goffin for the show’s theme song.

I also didn’t notice Mrs. Kim anywhere and it seemed rather sad that Paris wasn’t there to send off her friend either. I know that Paris wasn’t part of her Stars Hollow life, but it was the last episode! Sure they didn’t know that they were going to end the series until a week ago, but I want my satisfying ending!

I thought the ending lines were a little too cutesy, but the presenter’s speech at the tent party made me sporfle.

Is anyone else not really a big fan of Lorelei and Luke? I know, I know, meant to be together since day one and all that, but… eh.

This episode, I read, was written so that it could function as both a series and season finale. They pretty much new a few weeks before this was shot that Alexis Bledel wasn’t likely to return if there was an eighth season.

But yeah, I’m with you on the Mrs. Kim part. And that reminds me that we’ll never know what happened to Mr. Kim. Lane said something about him in the first or second episode, IIRC, but the implication was that he had just stepped out of the house or something. Guess he met up with Chuck Cunningham for a few beers, and never came back.

Kytheria I do like them together. This season kind of screwed up their relationship (and not just because they broke up), butI think overall it was handled well, and that was a nice save at the end between the two.

I *did * like that they set them on their path without making the whole episode about Luke and Lorelai, and I loved that Rory got some quality time with Lane, and I adored that they ended it in the diner (mirroring the pilot, as has been mentioned), without any Big Announcements or Big Goodbyes.

I think that really, this was kind of a perfect finale for Gilmore Girls.

They did a great job with the finale. I’m going to miss GG. It does seem strange that Mrs. Kim was not there. I know that a lot of people were dissatisfied with this season but I think it was a good arc for working out where they left off last season. I wonder how the next season would have gone without Alexis Bledel. It would be a very different show. There would be a temptation to have Luke’s daughter move to Star’s Hallow as a sort of Rory 2.

Eh, it’s not Gilmore Girls without **both ** the Gilmore Girls (and I say this as someone who found Rory nearly insufferable for most of the past three seasons), and I’m glad they didn’t try it.

Taylor’s speech was probably the funniest thing I’ve seen on TV this year. I’m going to miss this show.
