2648 words.
I’m over 1700 words, which I’m actually happy about. I didn’t think it would be as easy as it has been so far. I haven’t even started on what I thought my story would be about. I’m going to try and hit around 2000 tonight then do the same tomorrow. I hope I can get some good time in over the weekend as well.
- Not too shabby so far.
Only 525, but at least it’s something, especially since the idea only hit me a few hours ago while I was thinking about the canonical hours and how monks used to wake up in the middle of the night to pray.
But that’s all I’m tellin ya
I haven’t counted my words yet. But I’m sure I’m well over my quota. I’m using Word Pad instead of MS Word because those red and green lines would drive me crazy, and Wordpad has no word count function.
I also found a neat distraction. I have You Tube up in a browser in the background. Whenever I need some background noise I click on a random video and then ignore it and keep writing. "I have my Word Pad at about 25% of my screen. I just hear random words/music and have something going on in the background. Every now and then I realize nothing is going on in the background so I alt-tab, click on a video and keep going. It’s working really well so far.
699 words and I’m going to bed. I just wanted something, anything.
1729! Better than I was expecting earlier today.
1,049. It sucks big time, but I just keep telling myself to keep on writing–it doesn’t matter how good it is, I can always go back and edit, just keep writing.
It’s going to be really hard, though. wibbles
I had a burst of inspiration after my shower and now I’m at 2743 words. Yee-haw!
I opened this thread and realized I had forgotten all about Nano this year. I went over and signed up - while the pages were loading I came up with an idea for a story. Well, at least the beginning to a story. Apparently my novel is going to follow a first-semester nursing student through her first experiences with patients. Inspired by life? Most definitely.
I just pounded out 953 words over 45 minutes or so. I suppose it’s not a bad start after no planning whatsoever.
I was able to get out 2080 words yesterday. I did a lot at work inbetween jobs and on breaks and stuff. I had to clean up after halloween so I didn’t get as much done at home as I would have liked, but I’m above where I need to be and I haven’t started my story where I wanted so I’m still good.
I got down about 1,100 words last night. Not great, but not too shabby considering the idea well was dry this year.
I am using the Google wordprocessor so I can write when I am supposed to be working, too I may just make it this year.
Up to 5352 now…
I’m in, for the first time ever. No planning, plotting or outlining beforehand - just decided to jump in, since I’d talked myself out of it in previous years. I’m 900 words into what will probably be an atrociously bad novel, but it’s going to get done, dammit.
Not quite to 3500. Have characters and plot pieces, but no timeline and not much plot. We’ll see what they do. Our first local Write-In is tomorrow from 3 to 6. I’m hoping that will give me a boost.
I hate outlines. People always nagging me to make outlines. Only thing I did is make a calendar of events, since mine is somewhat time-sensitive.
I’m so jealous! I did it last year and it was such a cool accomplishment. I haven’t even looked at the novel since, let alone have I let anyone else see it. But it was very rewarding nonetheless.
I’m out this year due to work +3 night classes +moving to Chicago very soon. But next year I’ll try for a repeat. Good luck everyone!!
show off
I did some writing at work but the stupid phones and coworkers kept interrupting me - the nerve, expecting me to work at work. So, I am only around the 1700 mark. I’m kind of all over the place with the story, but I don’t care. I promised myself No Editing this year and I am sticking to it.
- Looks like I’m right on track so far. I’ve finished Chapter 1.
I wish I could write at work, but there’s no way that’s happening. They don’t even like it when I e-mail my husband. Best I can do is jot down ideas on a post-it note.
I’m in. Got what I think is a nifty idea for horror/thriller.
Except it’s late on day two, and I have yet to write a word.
Good thing someone invented weekends…
