Would you become more one with the universe if the SDMB offered a richer, fuller, more all encompassing set of Emojis that you could effortlessly click on to embed in your dribble?

I want something that conveys humiliation to the Nth + 1 degree. Think extreme groveling.
It’ll never happen. There are too many old timers and sticks in the mud here that hate the idea of altering pretty much anything about the way this site is set up and will loudly proclaim their resistance to that idea. Me, I’d like a more diverse set of emoticons to choose from.
This site definitely needs to be more like Facebook … hearts and stars and unicorns prancing … [adorable grin] …
The description of the smilie is “red face.” Can’t you be red-faced with shame?
Me, too. The Giraffe Boards has some nice smilies. Some of them are even animated.

This site has long operated on the premise that your WORDS are what you should use to communicate. That’s why you don’t get to insert images, that’s why there is a limited set of emojis to utilize, and that’s why there are no thumbs up/down opportunities, etc. So, for example, Little Pig could have said simply, “I am ashamed to say that you are right, BigT”.
I use emojis all the time in my other online personas. Perhaps a little too much. I love the fact that I’m forced to convey most of my meaning here by proper use of the English language. 
It’s a bit of a fetish. Kind of a dumb premise when you think about it. Even Cecil’s columns include a picture.
Which means that Slug should design our new emojis.
The whole deal with emojis, the few that we have to deal with on the Dope, is that they let you drop something heavy and back out of it with a wink or a grin, or get real serious with a mad face … you lookin’ at me?… but they are merely shorthand notes to avoid real conversation. Which is contrary to the whole point of this board. I use them occasionally, more and more never. Yes I’m an old-timer. My post count does not show that, but my membership status does. You guys can have this when we’re gone. Give me enlightened engagement with intellectual discourse. Except for MPSMS. Thats cool too. That’s what I’m here for.

I disagree. And I’m not particularly pleased to have something I’ve suggested I consider valuable called a “dumb premise.” It may be something that people like you disagree with, but people like me find it quite refreshing and helpful. I don’t think there is any inherent dumbness to it. :dubious:

I agree with this for GQ, GD, ATMB, and Elections. But the rest of the board tends more light hearted and fun, especially The Pit, so maybe just enable more for those forums…foruii…forumii or stuff.
