When we used to slaughter chickens (usually about 100 at a time) on the farm when growing up, they used to hang them upside down from a clothes line for that very reason. Uncle would just work his way down the line slicing off heads with his butcher knife.
Would be a long day of cutting up chickens to go into the freezer…

The killing of these puppies is not a big deal since it’s probably a population control/nuisance animals issue. In fact, I doubt it’s not something that others in her community have had to do since the dogs simply cannot be taken care of.
The only wrong here is the state of mind of putting it on video. Or in other words - stupid teenage-ry. Nothing to get worked up about or to go all “EVIL, EVIL! EVIL!!!”.
If it was a video of me, thrusting a spear into the river and coming out with a large fish that writhing in pain and gasping for air atop the point as I giggled and readied my fire pit, the only phrase with exclamation points in this thread would have been: “Wow, that sucker is big!” Or perhaps “Why the hell is this thread in the Pit?!”.

I live beside a canal and it’s not uncommon to see the odd pup or kitten in the water some are free floating and some are in bags. Drowning them is a very common way of despatching unwanted domestic animals. I suppose it’s because of the lack of blood etc.

On a tangential note: Does the whole body going crazy after decapitation happen on humans too? Every movie featuring some knight getting his head sliced off, or some French aristocrat being guillotined by a starving mob feature calm, peaceful bodies after the deed.

Killing puppies doesnt faze me, it happens. But to my mind, there is a certain loss of innocence in a young girl who can so casually destroy what has always been the image of helplessness, a new born pup. There is a complete lack of empathy there, and thats sad.
Two other points, someone said she may have been used to killing pups, and other said it may have been population control. How many dogs do you all have? Just exactly how often do you think any farmer will be culling newborn pups? It anint exactly a daily chore you know. I am willing to bet that girl was not a regular at the river, chucking in the latest batch of pups. She simply had no empathy for them.
I also repeat the point that anyone doing a necessary task would have dropped the whole bucketload in at once. The only reason to throw them piecemeal is the “shits and giggles” angle. No empathy.
I feel sorry for her, not any pups.
I would say animal cruelty goes beyond “inappropriate”.
Once again, it’s not so much about the puppies (although that certainly makes ME sick!), but the fact that killing animals in such a manner seems to entertain her. THAT is not normal.

I mean, where is your outrage for the pigs being killed by the rednecks on the helicopter? They appeared to be extracting a lot more pleasure from doing that than the girl was from drowning the puppies. So where is your compassion? Have you not seen babe?! What about babe: Pig in the City?
Why are the guys n the helicopter not the epitome of all that is evil? More importantly, what is the difference between some poor pig trying to live out his life in the coutry side, and some poor puppies that, for whatever reason find themselves with no one that is able to take care of them?
At least the pigs where taking care of their own needs, being all feral and stuff.
