Girls, what's your favourite mens aftershave or fragrance

No votes for “Old Spice” :frowning:

This is my answer in general, but every once in a while I’ve crossed paths with a man who’s mastered the art of using fragrance products subtly. It’s one of those things that I certainly couldn’t tell anyone how to do, but I do appreciate the effect.

The two men I have enjoyed smelling the most both used Old Spice deodorant (original scent). I’m a fan.

My wife found and Avon scent: Wild Country. Smelled GREAT, but they discontinued it. Then she found Wild Country - Outback, also by Avon. Made me smell even better to her. Also now discontinued.
Her choice for me now? “McGraw.” She loves it on me, and not just her - I’ve received numerous positive statements from other women (don’t get into the details of how they got that close to me…but it was a-okay with the missus…)

Commercials for body spray and deodorant suggest that you spray yourself in a majestic grand sweep from your fingertips to the armpit on the opposite side of the body.

This is a ploy to get ignorant users to finish up their spray bottle faster. If you take your clues from such commercials, and doze yourself in perfume like that, you will quickly find that girls laugh at you, and sensible people will avoid sitting next to you in any means of transport. You will also cause more then one allergy and migraine attack in your vicinity.

No-one has ever been ridiculed for just washing themselves daily with soap and using a lightly scented deodorant. And just the teensiest bit of aftershave.

Anything more, and you risk offending much more people then you might please. Do I need to remind you of the many threads where co-workers complained of somebody in the office wearing way too much scent? And that virtually any site with tips for job interviews will advise males not to wear scent?

Lots of good advice, BaseNotesis a good resource to learn about fragrances and read user reviews.

That bottle of Hai Karate cologne I got when I was 17 did NOT work as advertised.

Even today, in spite of what the Axe commercials and ads in men’s magazines tell us, we still can’t drive women wild via smell.

My husband smells good in Eddie Bauer’s “Adventure” during winter. A very woodsy warm scent. For summer he likes Bulgari’s unisex Eau de Blanc (White Tea). It’s a very subtle, clean, almost linen-y scent that I wear occasionally too.

And, echoing what is written above. DON’T over do it. Each time you hit a department store, try a small sample on each wrist or forearm. Do not decide immediately, as perfume needs to dry and warm up on your skin. Sniff after a few minutes, then sniff again after an hour.

No, one of my elementary school teachers used to hose himself down with it so I can’t stand the smell now.

I do have a certain fondness for Brut however. One of my favorite uncles used to wear it. I think one of my cousins always gave it to him for Christmas.

not axe or old spice. Avoid anything from the drug store unless it’s soap.

I love the clean smell of soap or a very very light musk smell. But I hate cologne so I prefer a smell of clean man. Less is more and DO NOT spray yourself with a cologne since it will repel women. A man tried to flirt with me and he REEK of cologne and I just wanted to gag. I have professors in my university(I’m a college student) that reek of musk.

My wife and little girl both like it when I put on Royall Lyme after a shave. The scent isn’t too strong, and it’s quite pleasant, but for my money it fades too quickly.

I love Royall Lyme and get constant positive feedback on it.

I’ve not read all of the thread, but some guy I’d like to go out drinking with said, “A woman’s scent should be discovered, not advertised.”
