A second with transitional lenses (although I keep an ordinary pair of plain-lens glasses as back-up). Never had braces, though they did say they’d pack my teeth, sometime. They never did.
wnated braces so bad when i was about 12.
damnit.
never got them. got teeth hoiked out tho:|
need glasses for reading lecture stuff and driving ( not that i’ve passed my test yet )
I’m another with glasses. I also tried the contacts and discovered that I couldn’t do the ‘touch my eyeball thing’.
I even have prescription sunglasses and ‘back up’ glasses in case mine break and I can’t get to the optometrist immediately. Oh, and I’ve worn them since I was five years old.
How could anyone want braces?
Glasses, but just for reading.
[sub]pisses me off that they’re printing most paperbacks in submicro invisi-print these days[/sub]
I wanted braces. I thought having silver decorations on your teeth looked awesome. Never got them, but now that I am in my twenties, my dentists suggests that I look into it. Shyaw, right! I lasted this long, no way am I gonna do it now, especially since I would have to spring for them.
As for glasses, I started wearing them when I was eight. Got contacts when I was ten, gas permeable because that was what my mom wore and the doctors figured it would be easier if she could show me how to use them. My eyes have gotten so poor over the years that when I asked my optometrist about getting soft lenses, he told me that it wasn’t possible, soft lenses can’t be made into a strong enough prescription. Bizarrely, I was never given an eye test when I got my driver’s license, so my license doesn’t have the corrective lenses restriction on it. Which means I can legally go driving without my glasses or contacts! Whoohoo! Watch me drive into a tree!
I have one of those exact same things. I don’t even notice it anymore, but, boy is it a pain to floss behind it. Also, it came loose once when I was on a trip in Canada. The end of the wire cut my mouth really badly, and I was pretty miserable, because we couldnt find a store that sold wax. I also wear a removeable upper retainer.
Me too, me too! Contacts are so way better. Can’t stand glasses, and one day I’ll get laser surgery.
I dont know why. but they struck me as such a cool thing to have.
dont think i’de like them now tho.
well… maybe.
can u get a brace put on without having skewed teeth?
I wear glasses.
[sub]I also have developed a geek girl fetish wherein I think glasses are incredibly sexy. Woo.[/sub]
Glasses, but just to keep lectures from getting blurry now and then.
I have glasses for driving, seeing the white board, and <blush> sometimes I have to put them on to check out guys.
I’ve got the over 40 eyes. Need glasses to read. Braces: could have used them, but never got them. The old chompers aren’t perfect, but I didn’t get a cavity until I was almost 40.
Glasses since age 9. Severely near-sighted. Thankfully, eyeglass technology has come a long way. Even though my current prescription is the strongest yet, they are half as thick as my original pair. The first few pairs were glass. The middle group plastic. The latest few have some sorta high-tech poly-carbonate thing. Being this near-sighted, though, gives me that “notch-head” look. I tried contacts, but got tired of them after 3 years.
I used to wear glasses, but now it’s contact lenses.
I had braces. I had one of my front teeth (which I had messed up by smashing my mouth a couple times) pulled a week after I got braces, and a plastic tooth was attached to the braces in its place. Since the braces came off I’ve been wearing a retainer with a tooth on it all the time so that I don’t have a big gap in my teeth. I had an implant thing put in this summer (interesting experience), and now I’m at the part where I wait while the bone and things heal before the process is completed and I finally get some kind of permanent replacement.
In summary…
Glasses: yes, in the past
Braces: same
I’ve had glasses since I was six months old. I had eye surgery when I was one, and again when I was thirteen. And I STILL don’t have any depth perception.
Glasses since the first grade, braces for about six months in fourth grade.
Yeesh! What’s that like?
I have 20-20 vision and have been known to shoot apples off small boys’ heads with my bow and arrows, but I wear spectacle frames with plain glass in them to make me look like an intellecktshual.
30 day contacts, buckteeth need braces.
