Glee on FOX

I want to see Chenoweth and Rachel sing a duet from “Wicked.” Rachel reminds me a LOT of Idina Menzel.

LOVE Chenoweth’s character. Would like to see an occasional return appearance.

Nope, you’re not alone. There are at least two others (me and my husband) who also laughed. My son, however, was completely puzzled.
I really, really enjoyed this episode. It was more what I was hoping Glee would be, with the added bonus of very little Terri and lots of Chenoweth. Unfortunately, it looks like next week it’s returning to the manipulation and plotting, which makes me grumble.

Also, would somebody please take away the Auto-Tune? I am sick to death of it.

“Defying Gravity” is listed as one of the tracks on the upcoming soundtrack release. Chenoweth has also stated that she would love to return to the show too.

I got the reluctant hubby to watch with me, based on her appearance. I’m also happy to see that the show now has a full season pick-up too.

I also must agree. Best episode since the pilot, but far too little Jane Lynch, and no scenes with Sue and April.

I kind of thought the plot was a mess in this one, but it was so much fun to watch I can forgive it. Almost no Terri = good (though that one line about the baby being “mongoloid” was so painful, it was almost as bad as having her throughout the episode).

On the other hand Jane Lynch knows how to make the most of a small appearance: “I was aroused . . . and furious.” She must be ad libbing, right? How do they keep straight faces around her?

However, the best part was Kurt and Emma: “Oh Bambi, you must have been so sad when that hunter shot your mother . . . blorch” With the crowning moment of comedy - right on the heels of defining “the full Silkwood,” Emma says, “I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a fake ID, because he looks like an 11 year old milk maid.” We had to pause to howl with laughter for several minutes.

Is auto-tune what makes it sound like the voices are unnatural and overproduced a la Britney? I hated “Alone” for that - why do you need to tweak the voices of two Broadway powerhouses? They looked ridiculous lipsyncing that.

I made a serious effort to watch for lip-syncing in the ensemble numbers, since it’s annoying so many people so much – nope, can’t be bothered. The looking for it was interfering with my enjoyment, not the lip-syncing or lack thereof.

(The choreography in the cowboy number was fucking hysterical.)

It didn’t occur to me till last night to wonder: do these glee club competitions really exist? Or is this just something they made up for the show?

They are mostly juniors right? Now that the show is picked up for the full season I’m wondering about the long term sustainability of the show.

In order for the premise to outlive two seasons either they will have to slow down the time progression, follow the kids into college, or bring in an entirely new cast of kids. Wonder what the plan is…

I haven’t been watching the show, just kind of vaguely following along on occasion when supervenusfreak is watching, but I promised him I’d watch the Cheno episode with him, so I have actual comments this time.

I’d noticed people talking about the lack of synch between the visual and the singing, and I did notice that. It was pretty noticeable if you were looking for it. The editors need to work on that.

I was somewhat disappointed near the end. I understand Shuster’s dropping April from glee, considering that the whole point of her being there was a) underhanded and b) taking away from the actual kids. But I expected him to at least say something like “See you in class?” Because, really, you tried to use this woman to unethically boost your glee club, roping her in with at least the promise of helping her get her diploma, and when you realize that you WERE being unethical about the glee club thing you just drop her like a hot potato, without even a mention of her finishing those three freaking credits to graduate from high school and maybe not have to squat in foreclosed mansions and wash dishes for wine money?

Did anyone else expect April to be a prostitute given her mention of “x number of appointments per afternoon”, etc.?

Didn’t have a glee club in my high school, but surely they must have these competitions. There are competitions for marching bands, choirs, dance lines and cheerleaders, there must be glee competitions.

Easy. Flunk 'em all!

It never occurred to me that she was anything else.

I have no idea who this Kristen Chenworth person is but I found her and this entire episode EXCRUUUUUUUCIATING!!! It felt like they wanted Ami Sedaris but couldn’t get her so hired someone to be just like her instead, right down to the hair. I also hated all the song choices this time. Blech. I liked the dancing in the hillbilly song though. And I’m glad Stephen Tobolowski’s character, Sandy, continues to be a recurring one. I was afraid he was only going to guest in the first episode.

Hehe…that’s cute. The idea that Kristen Chenoweth is trying to be Amy Sedaris. Hilarious!

I love Amy Sedaris, she’s funny as hell, but she doesn’t hold a candle to Cheno.

We had to pause, howl with laughter, and then rewind, and laugh all over again. “Full Silkwood” is brilliant.

Just caught this on Hulu. Absolutely great episode. Two points that haven’t been mentioned yet that I loved:

  1. Singing “Don’t Stop Believing” again. One thing I thought last time was “Do these just sing a song once and never sing it again?” I understand not wanting to show the same song over and over again, but it’s pretty unrealistic that they wouldn’t be singing the same group of songs over and over again.

  2. Just how creepy Sandy really is. “Let me tell you about my planned production of ‘Equis’. Have you ever hung out in a stable?”

Agreed! I was very happy with the song choices and performances. And of course Kristin! And… the shower scene…

They mentioned the main girl as being the 'first sophomore to be the lead in the musical". Not sure about the others.

That’s what I was thinking…

Did anyone else expect April to take over lead on the musical after the director mentioned wanting someone “more mature”?

Regarding longevity, they could just fake it like a lot of shows, and have them spend 2 (or more) years in each grade.

I love that Stephen Tobolowski’s character is Sandy Ryerson, when he was “Ned! Ned Ryerson!” in Groundhog Day.

“I sure as heckfire remember you!”

Can someone explain the “Full Silkwood”?
An excellent episode. Can someone name a TV show that would not be improved by Kristin Chenoweth? Other than The Wire?

I loooooooooooooooved her blue eyeshadow – perfect!

In the movie “Silkwood” the main character (Karen Silkwood) is a whistleblower who works in a plutonium processing plant and is harassed by, among other things, being intentionally contaiminated with plutonium, and subsequently scrubbed down in a very assaultive manner. (one of the most famous scenes of the movie).
