Glen Beck goes Full Galt

You won’t have Glenn Beck to hey-whatever-happened-to-that-crying-Fox-News-guy anymore…

Never go full Galt.

Ohhh… so those were Baal fields he was talking about in the residential area… the plot thickens. (Of course, no one would ever believe this as a fiction story because it is just too weird).

It’s like 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, Planet of the Apes, and Atlas Shrugged all rolled into one dystopian nightmare.

I love it. Can you imagine a place where people would gladly defect to the USSR circa 1970, or modern day North Korea?

Nah, all they have to do is make sure there’s a wind turbine in front of Beck at all times.

You forgot Lord of the Flies.

And a touch of Brazil I would imagine

Clearly you didn’t watch the video. There are wind turbines in the illustration and Beck specifically commented that they’d been put in there by ??? to “piss [him] off” he said “there will be NO wind turbines” in his special magic land.

Now, he is in Dallas area… maybe he intends to install his own gas drilling pads and frack the snot out of the place. But (a) most acreage is already leased and he’d have to buy up those leases and (b) a gas based generation plant isn’t going to be so cheap. I imagine that just those two factors would drive him over the 2 Billion dollar mark. PLUS, a gas well production isn’t really a long term thing and he’s talking a heck of a lot of electricity to run a major production studio, amusement park, education center. Oh… and I’m sure all the EwBeckIstanians will want power and lights in their monoculture designed homes.

Hey, I played this game!

It…didn’t turn out well.

Why would I do a foolish thing like that? I’ll watch him babble the day I develop a psychic telewedgie power, and not before. (And then only briefly, so to speak.)

Didn’t check out the video in the OP, but to paraphrase from Tropic Thunder, never go full Galt! :stuck_out_tongue:

Also Brave New World:“. . .The result of the Cyprus experiment was convincing.”

“What was that?” asked the Savage.

Mustapha Mond smiled. “Well, you can call it an experiment in rebottling if you like. It began in A.F. 473. The Controllers had the island of Cyprus cleared of all its existing inhabitants and re-colonized with a specially prepared batch of twenty-two thousand Alphas. All agricultural and industrial equipment was handed over to them and they were left to manage their own affairs. The result exactly fulfilled all the theoretical predictions. The land wasn’t properly worked; there were strikes in all the factories; the laws were set at naught, orders disobeyed; all the people detailed for a spell of low-grade work were perpetually intriguing for high-grade jobs, and all the people with high-grade jobs were counter-intriguing at all costs to stay where they were. Within six years they were having a first-class civil war. When nineteen out of the twenty-two thousand had been killed, the survivors unanimously petitioned the World Controllers to resume the government of the island. Which they did. And that was the end of the only society of Alphas that the world has ever seen.”

I just wish that when people check in, they can’t check out. That would make this one of the best all time social experiments in the history of the world. Could you imagine the second generation? We could finally prove or disprove the Idiocracy Theory

Personally, I can’t wait until this becomes the plot of Bioshock 4.

Not at all. The theme of the park is “Stoop Labor, Just Like Our Ancestors!”

Failed amusement park as a setting? Dystopian utopia? Glen Beck as a boss mob? This could work.

Whatever happened to that artificial libertarian island nation? Still building it?

In this scenario I think we know who is Piggy.

What a brilliant idea. Pack all the brave New World libertarians off into some self-contained community.

They should call it the Beck Ark, or B-Ark for short. No doubt it will feature The Restaurant At The Arse-End of The Universe.

I just hope they remember to create a class of telephone sanitizers.

[hijack]Dear elucidator:

This post epitomizes why I have *such *a Doper crush on you.

Loving you madly,

Morgyn[/hijack]

Can’t trust Alphas. A lot of them are gingers.
