Glen Beck has had chiropractic brain rehab.

What is it about the ultra-right-wing culture in the USA that eschews science (rooted in the search for God’s Laws of the universe*) and embraces alternative medicine’s mysticism and magic (rooted in pagan practices)?#

The lack of sleep, overworked adrenal gland, etc. sounds like hyperadrenocorticism or Cushings syndrome. Then again, IANAD, I just learned a tiny bit about it when the veterinarian suggested my wife’s dog might have it. It’s supposedly treatable with western medicine.

*I suggested this to a history professor eons ago. She said I could be right, but it was a really super-abstract connection that would be hard to solidify with research.

$Kind of the converse of the argument above. I tossed it at a JW Naturopathy student who responded by turning pale and walking away looking perplexed. I have no idea if it’s true, but it was an argument (cheap shot) that scored.

There’s plenty of belief in alternative medicine and criticism of actual medicine on the left as well, and I say that as a liberal Democrat.

If anything I think of it as a lefty tree hugging hippie thing.

I don’t attribute it to any particular political leaning.
