I had a hard time finding a number for Sharpton’s cute little counter-rally, but one source said it was south of 5,000.
Good to see that it wasn’t an overtly political rally, and more importantly that both were pretty much sans violence or mayhem.
As if numbers turn idiocy into truth.
No . . . But in any republic or democracy, numbers can turn idiocy into policy. So it goes.
And it’s not like kings or dictators or aristocracies or ruling-party hierarchies are never prone to idiocy.
Uh…no.
Liberation theology is Marxism disguised as religion. Black Liberation Theology took that and threw a healthy dose of victimhood into the stew.
Here’s a reasonably good explanation: The Marxist roots of black liberation theology | Acton Institute
What that is , is a pretty one sided view of BLT. I hope you don’t mind if I let those who practice it ot the man who helped create it, present their side of the story.
I find the stressing of justice for the poor to be in line with what Jesus actually taught. Keep in mind that for most of our history white Christianity supported slavery, and then segregation and a denial of equality.

Go look at pictures of the Million Man March, or watch video of MLK, Jr. speaking there, and then you’ll see what a crowd of hundreds of thousands looks like.
Well to be honest, a crowd of 500,000 black people only counts as 300,000 white folk, so you can see how these good constitutionalists can make that kind of mistake.
Surely you are all aware of the significance of the 3/5 compromise, right? I mean besides trying to use it as justification for bashing constitutionalists for racism.
“Constitutionalists”? As in, “people whose political views are as considered as those of my morning constitutional”?

yeah the significance is that southerners wanted to treat some human beings like cattle in all aspects except when they wanted to count them for the purposes of gaining more influence in Congress.
Of course the good southerners always kept the slaves’ best interests at heart when they voted.

Dude, they had the coolest uniforms ever. That’s got to count for something.

That’s not funny!
The slaves probably would have loved to have been treated as 3/5 of a person, rather than the 0/5 they actually were treated as.
The slaves probably would have loved to have been treated as 3/5 of a person, rather than the 0/5 they actually were treated as.
Indeed, the 3/5 compromise was a compromise between slaveowners who wanted slaves counted as a whole person, and Northerners who didn’t want slaves counted for the purposes of representation at all. Thus, from our modern perspective, the right outcome would have been a 0/5 compromise. Counting them as a whole person would only have more greatly empowered slaveholders.

Hey! Did anyone else notice that half way through Beck’s speech the statue of Lincoln got up and walked out?
Snowboarder_Bo:
To “prove” that this is not a political event, it seems that organizers have asked people to leave their classy signs at home “as they may deter from the peaceful message we are bringing to Washington.”
Yes, they should tone down their signs, maybe they could clarify their thoughts,
“I’m not saying Obama’s a Sekrit Muslim Imam out to destroy America, I’m just asking a question”
“It’s not that I think Obama’s not American-born, I just want to see the Birth Certificate.”
“Any monkey references we have made toward Obama have nothing to do with race, its just funny, right?”
In other words you just want to find some reason to critiicise Obama, because you do not like the idea that he was elected? Would you like to be referred to as a big jackass? I doubt it! Would you think it funny? I do not think so. If you are one of the goofies that think he has no birth certificate that is your problem, if it was indeed a fact the Opposition would have made a bigger deal of that even before he was elected.
