Global coding prob: italics in quote box

I don’t know how it happens, but sometimes the coding for a whole thread or forum gets weird.

Right now, the content inside the first quote box of a post is coming up as italics. Not every quote box in a post necessesssarily does this.

Example:

Hmm, it didn’t do it. Take a look at other forums and you’ll see what I mean. Honest!

That looks like this: <QUOTE=Aeschines>Hmm, it didn’t do it. Take a look at other forums and you’ll see what I mean. Honest!</QUOTE>

That looks like this: <quote>No italics</quote>

Replace <> with above. If you use the reply (to individual posts) button, it will automatically attribute that quote to the OP (<QUOTE=Aeschines> becomes “Originally posted by Aeschines” and the message is always italicized). Some people just C&P using the regular <QUOTE></QUOTE> and type the OP’s screen name either above or below the quote. That’s why some quotes are italicized and some are not.

Now, if I’m doing the “reply to each and every point” method of reply, I’ll use the Reply to this Post button and place </quote> tags after each point I wish to respond to.

So then, when I come to another point, I have to start a quote tag again. See here that the quoted section is no longer italicized. That’s because most people manually type <QUOTE> rather than…

<QUOTE=User Name>.

Thanks for the expl.

I feel we don’t need italics where the user name is used. Do we?
