Congratulations to Lennox Lewis, still the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

The crowd were with Tyson, the referee was with Tyson, but Lennox taught him how to box.

I’m glad about this result because I think it answers the age-old question - would Ali have beaten Tyson?

Ali would have won because technique always rules over power.

And if you’ve got technique and power, like Ali and Lewis, then you are unbeatable.

(and respect to Mike Tyson for fighting a clean fight and being gracious in defeat)

I had no worries that Lewis would hand Tyson his ass for the reason Jojo mentioned. Lewis is a good boxer, Tyson is a brawler. A good boxer will nearly always beat a brawler and a talented boxer is a beautiful thing to watch work. I saw Lewis fight before he was “somebody” and I knew he was going to be a great fighter. I’ve always enjoyed watching him fight.

IMO, Tyson didn’t fight clean because he is respectable now. He had no choice, between being under a microscope as well as the “dirty fighting” clause in the contract. Tyson is an overgrown punk, nothing more, and probably much less, who finally actually had to fight somebody with some talent (besides Holyfield).

It’s nice to have a little class back in boxing. And yes, I also think there would have been no contest with Ali.

I had a decent post all typed up, but the damn cookies on my computer didn’t have me logged in, so I lost it. :frowning:

Lewis definitely proved himself to be a worthy champion tonight; Tyson looked worse than I have ever seen him. (Buster Douglas, anyone?) With the exception of the first round, he threw maybe 10 good punches. That’s not ‘Iron’ Mike. That’s sad.

Question: who would have thought that Lennox Lewis would get a poiont taken away for ‘fighting dirty’ against Tyson?
