This just confirms the truth that the Packers are the Greatest Football Team Ever and it is only right that a positive future of this great country rides on their shoulders.

Dude, although this is the Pit, and I like Ike too, what you do with your nuts and your feet is your business. A link to the site showing the video would be nice, though.
GO SKINS!
Here I thought this thread was about that goofy douchebag in the Sports Illustrated commercial.
I make fun of him every time that comes on TV.
Things aren’t looking so good for Bush…
Redskins rookie Taylor arrested on drunken driving charge
Go Pack!!!
I’m a Washington fan, so I have to cheer for the Skins. Like DtC said, superstitious nonsense.
Besides, three Packers players are injured:
Things don’t look so good for Kerry (if you believe in that sort of thing).
Bah. Green’s tendon has been acting up all year. The O-Line is deep enough that losing Rivera for a game (unlikely) won’t doom us. And Favre being sidelined with a sprained hand? He played most of last season with a broken thumb that still isn’t right. This is Brett Freaking Favre! Even if you hate him, you have to admit a sprained hand won’t slow him.
And just to clarify my call. (Think of it as pointing to center field while at bat) This is the year that bullshit superstition is destroyed. I mean, c’mon people, the BoSox won!
Wow! Look at all these NC State fans. It does my heart good.
<Whisper in Tim’s ear>
Oh, that Pack. Nevermind.
Well, except for the Cubs.
[QUOTE=cricetus*The chance that the games and elections results matching up in the last 18 elections is 1 in 263.5 million, more than 2,600 times higher than the chance of being killed by a lightning strike in a lifetime, said Dave Dolan, an assistant professor of statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
I don’t get how he calcuated those odds. Either the results match the election or they don’t, a 50/50 chance. Right? We have had eighteen elections so that means the the odds of eighteen straight 50% chance things in a row happening are what must be calculated.
So that’s 2[sup]18[/sup], right? That comes to 1 in 262.1 thousand which is only about 2.5 times higher than the chance of getting killed by a lightning strike.
It’s been a while since I studied probablility so what am I missing?

P.S. Go Pack!
The Bears are 1-5 and The Bears beat The Packers 21-10…At Lambeau!!
Of course, there’s always the Red Sox World Series hoodoo on the election. Whenever the Red Sox have won a Series in an election year, the Democratic candidate has won, so there’s some good news!
To be more specific, whenever the Red Sox have won a Series in an election year, Woodrow Wilson has won. So I predict a big write-in vote on Nov. 2nd.
It just occurred to me that this is Go Pack vs. GOPAC.

Wait a minute, does this mean the Redskins have won not one, but two for the Gipper*?
'84, '88
As a lifelong Redskins fan, and having been raised as a Republican, I would just like to say:
Go Packers!!
Keep in mind that was without Grady Jackson to stuff the run.
Don’t you mean “Lambert”?
Go Redskins! But beware, they carry a terrible curse.*
What’s the state of the frogurt?
Seriously… I think of that commercial every time I see this thread title.
EVERYONE in that commercial (from the chunky, still-lives-with-mom “STEELERS, STEELERS” guy to the kinda-light-in-his-loafers 49ers guy) is a goofy douchebag.
I’ve grown kind of fond of the Rams “Fo’ free?” guy though.
Incidentally, Lambeau (Field) has now been misspelled three different ways in this thread. applauds
And he is PISSED! I’m waiting for him and Vince to channel into the SDMB and apply a smoting.
Can I change my mind?
I feel that this historical record is indeed infallible.
Pack 28.
Skins 14.
Yes!!! Not only do the Sox break the curse, the Packers and Bush will prove to break this…umm…what the hell is it?
And why the hell didn’t we hear about this long running coincidence 3 weeks ago? :dubious:
