Well, the subject may be a little hypocritical coming from an atheist, but it sounded right.
Whoever hacked this place needs a good cockpunching. I had to wait and wait without my SDMB addiction for all that time and I began to…get…a LIFE! Luckily, that “life” is now leaving me as I return to my natural habitat. I’m still pissed because my post count is about a fifth of what it was before.
Please someone, tell me I’m not the only one that
habitually clicked the ‘Dope’ link in my browser
at least five times a day… I’m not… right… guys?
Right?
No worries, Timban, you weren’t the only one. However, I took so long to figure out how to get to the replacement board (I didn’t know there was one, I just thought my computer wouldn’t open up the page like a good boy.), I registered there today. Don’t feel too bad.
I have been registered here since December of 2000, and a lurker for even longer. After reading the OP I decided to check my own post count, and was speechless to see that my current post count is below 40! I had almost hit 100, yes, laugh if you will, but I was posting more and coming out of my shell. Now, I have to make up about 50 posts to get where I was, so proud to be, before.
What makes things worse? This is my first post in The Pit, EVER, and it is really lame.
Fuckin’ hell, man, the SDMB is my home page, so I checked it several times a day as a matter of computer policy, completely independent of my conscious mind. Top that!
Damn-it I lost over a 100 posts. I was trying to get it up to around two posts a day average and what happens? I lose all of em. Damned hackers I hope someone kicks your lilly little ass.
It’s not the reduction in my total post count that I resent, but the complete loss of EVERY THREAD started on this board after December 7, many of which I had been faithfully reading and was looking forward to posting in once the board was back in service. May the scum who crashed our server roast on a spit - slowly - in the hottest fires of Hell; on behalf of all the Dopers whose posts were lost in the server crash, I’ll gladly provide the BBQ sauce.
Please excuse me for asking a dumb question, but would it be possible to find the hackers? I suppose suing them for all they’re worth could be an option. I was under the impression that the process of tracking these pieces of filth would be more trouble and expense than they’re worth.
