God Damn You Comedy Central

The State was one of the greatest shows ever. anyone else pick up the book state by state with the state? it was hilarious.

as for battlebots, I liked it at first. however it got boring because the robots with cool weapons always lost to stupid wedge shaped bots. The wedge is damn effective, but its boring to watch. It’s like watching the NJ Devils play hockey. I wanna see robots get ripped up by giant spinning blades, not get flipped by a giant door stop.

Oh, man, I miss these shows. I still see the commercials for them sometimes, when I watch the episodes of MST3K I taped in the mid-90’s - just a grade-schooler, but even then I knew they wouldn’t last forever. I just wish I’d taped more. I’m taping all of the Sci-Fi ones I can now, though I wish I could get my hands on a copy of that one, you know, “The Horrible Creatures Who Became Mixed-Up Zombies” or whatever it’s called. I’ve seen it a couple times on vacation (VCR-less), and it’s hilarious.

At any rate, yeah, I remember The Vacant Lot (“wrapped up like a douche?”), Kids in the Hall (see sig), Exit 57… Damn, now that you mention it, Comedy Central really does suck. I want the mid-90’s back.

I agree with everything said. Ummm, even the contradictory stuff. Anyhoo just thought I’d mention that E! is running classic SNL in hour long versions. Tomorrow (Thursday) they’re running one from 1977 starring Chevy Chase and Billy Joel.

I think people got tired of stand up comedy when they all had their own tv shows and every freaking network had a “comedy hour”

And they ran al lthe hbo and showtime specials in the ground

So they started making their own shows and most of them are hit and miss ( more misses in my opinion )

And as I’ve said in other threads I miss mst3ks "turkey day "

But time warners almost done the same thing on its cartoon network

Its all reruns of their new shows or their anime series or scooby doo
I guess specialty stations that start out with a core auidence have to evolve or they dont gain the viwers they need to survive hence the new shows

What? You mean you don’t LIKE the neutral-zone trap?

I wish eternal hellfire upon all haters of BattleBots as much as the next guy, and I also hate CC’s treatment of it’s shows.

I also hate Primetime Glick replacing South Park on Saturday nights. I hope Martin Short’s fat ass gets hit by a hijacked jet, causing his ass to deflate and he goes flying around like a balloon that’s been let go of.

Robot Wars is WWF for geeks. You can’t beat the house bots, which have unlimited budget, and don’t have weight/weapon restrictions. The house bots are under the control of people, meaning that they’re not impartial. Watching Robot wars is like watching a bunch of flies fighting each other in a spider’s web. Everyone is fighting to be First Victim.

BattleBots, OTOH, the hazards, while still under control of people, are at least immobile. If you get taken by a hazard, it’s because either you were too dumb/unskilled to stay away, or your opponent was good enough to place you in harm’s way. All the BattleBots have to meet the same rules, and an inexpensive bot can clean house on one made by a multi-millionare (Frostbite vs. Surgeon General, ferinstance). In BattleBots, money is less important than design excellence and innovation. The small guy wins quite often.

God, but I hope BB loses the bimbo when season 4 airs!

Sweet Spot, however… That’s just Bill Murray showing that he’s completely out of good ideas.
