Comedy Central Schedulers Should Die Like Pigs in Hell

Just sent this e-mail of to Comedy Central, about thier cancelling the 7:00 p.m. reruns of the previous night’s Daily Show

Huge mistake—much of your audience watches the 7:00 rerun and not the 11:00 show—including my mother and I (we always laughed when Jon Stewart said his whole audience is 16 years old–I am 45 and my mother is 81). She and I both work and have to be up early, so we watched the 7:00 rerun—me in New York, she in Phila.—then called each other and chatted for a few minutes. Nice evening ritual, now down the tubes. “Why don’t you tape it?” you ask. Right. I’m going to spend the next year teaching my mother how to program her VCR, then call her every night at 10:59 to make sure she has a tape in, then coordinate our tape-watching . . . Not worth it, frankly. So, sorry to say, you and Jon Stewart have lost two loyal viewers and, I’m sure, many more.

Bastards.

[no, that last part was not in the e-mail]

What, pray tell, will they put in it’s place?

Reruns of Conan O’Brien. Thanks, none for me, I’ll take vanilla. [the flavor, not the poster]

I’m more upset for my Mom than for me—she watches so little TV as it is, and really enjoyed The Daily Show (“Jon Stewart is so cute, and where else can you get good old-fashioned Jewish vaudeville humor these days?” she says).

It’s on at 5:30 now, isn’t it? I’ve been seeing it on at that time.

It probably has to do with the time zone you’re in. I’m in Central Time Zone, and it used to come on at 6:00 right after the “real” news. Now I think it comes on at 4:30. The change has ruined my household schedule. My kids would always ask whether what I was watching was the real news or the stupid news.

Yep, that’s right. I just checked TV Guide’s online listings (couldn’t get Comedy Central’s to work). The show is on at 5:30 Eastern Time, which is where Eve is.

I’m right with you on this, Eve. Further punishment is due them for their nearly incessant airings of SNL, South Park nightly and the most inane movies they can get their hands on.

Listen up, oh ye with cranial leprosy, I watched your station when it had comedy. I want Short Attention Span Theatre back. I want Stand Up Stand Up back. I want Joel and the Bots back (not Mike - I want Joel).

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Friday evenings when I get the stand up block. But why the Fuck is it Friday Night!? FRIDAY NIGHT is the night WE GO OUT! I want it on Monday. Hell, I need it on Monday. I don’t need another Kentucky Fried Movie.

This is great. Comedy Central has the worst friggin’ scheduling in the world and their movie selections are downright awful. And don’t they play SNL like, all day? And they aren’t even the good old episodes, they’re all the '90s crapola.

Comedy Central - isn’t.

Gorgon Heap - E! has been broadcasting a lot of the SNLs from the 1970s and early 80s. Last night I saw one that had the Grateful Dead as musical guest!

I…I…I like Comedy Central.

Sadly, their near-constant play of SNL is often the only tolerable thing on, especially when I tend to watch TV (after 11pm central time). Even the worst episode of SNL beats any sitcom.

Besides Star Trek: TNG on TNN, the Simpsons, and various documentaries, it’s about all I watch.

Great. I don’t get home from work till 6:30, at the earliest. So as far as Mom and I are concerned, The Daily Show is no longer is on the air. That was the only Comedy Central show I watched, so they can go whistle for my viewership.

Bastards.

I wouldn’t hate them so much if they didn’t show the same damn reruns of SNL each time. They’re not only the crappy 90’s shows…they’re the same 3 crappy 90’s shows over…and over…and over…

And while we’re at it, I hate them for cancelling MST3K and forcing them to the Sci Fi channel, where they became progressively less funny and got cancelled.

And which one was which? I haven’t watched the evening news in about a decade because I found it so unremittingly stupid…:stuck_out_tongue:

I am still pissed that they canceled Strangers with Candy. That was one of the funniest shows of all time. Maybe their staff as a fear of success and gets scared any time a show is doing well.

No more MST3K, no more Strangers with Candy, no more Upright Citizens Brigade … and now no more 7pm Daily Show reruns? Damn it!

They’re trying to turn me into a poo-flinging monkey, I just know it.

Strangers with Candy. Worst. Show. Ever.

I so wish I’d bought one of those T-shirts somebody was printing during the MST3K debacle:

Comedy Central: Must Suck TV.

I’ll be watching a lot less Daily Show, too, darn it. Why must they kill every show I like while airing five hours a day of SNL reruns?

At least Penn Jillette isn’t doing the voice-overs anymore. When they had him, MST3K fans had to petition CC to get him off the end credits of the show.

As for the shows from the early days: whatever happened to them? “Almost Live”, “Comics Only”, etc.

Hopefully those SNL reruns won’t last much longer, not that anything will change. Their programming has been going the way of the crapper lately.
