God-Damned mother-effing coward Spaniards.

Indeed. It’s amazing how quickly the Fearless Defenders of Democracy go running to fascism when the Wrong Team wins. And by “amazing,” I mean “fucking pathetic.”

Expect to see lots more of this as the U.S. election season wears on.

Just as an FYI, Spaniards don’t eat burritios–that’s Mexican.

Muad’Dib will never have a plate of paella again.

If fighting terrorism means voters are forced to choose the “right” candidate or else get labelled as “appeasers,” then the terrorists will have won.

Well I was about to tear into Maub for composing one of the dumbest threads in the history of the SDMB, but I must say you’ve tossed some real gems out there yourself.

(referring to John Kerry)

What the fuck? Are you trying to say this is a bad thing??? Actually yes you are, because right below you give us this gem…

The mind boggles. So Kerry would be bad for America because he would want to work with other countries instead of outright ignoring them and turning the populace against them?

Who knows if Kerry’s policies would be more successful or not, but I’ll be voting for the guy thats willing to offer an olive branch.

One more thing.

Hey Ale we get it, you’ve never been more pissed off, got it. Now do yourself a favor and shut the fuck up already before you get yourself in more trouble. I’ve enjoyed reading some of your posts, and it would be a shame to get booted over your inability to let something go. Ease up on the gas bro, you’re just grinding metal.

THAT was a brilliant post. I am put in mind of nothing so much as the Mole from South Park… "waving your big dick around and chanting “USA#1"”… comic gold…

“Spain’s Troops Heading Out of Iraq Under Zapatero”

Can any of you bandwagon jumpers at least admit that this sends the terrorists an encouraging message that their tactics work?

I want to second Really Not All That Bright’s praise of this post. Wonderful, especially this line. Kerry should use it as a campaign slogan. I’d put that on my bumper any day of the week. The whole damn thing…

KidCharlemagne, the only signal a Spanish retreat from Iraq sends, is that Spanish troops should not have been over there in the first place, as 90% of the Spanish people were vehemently against it. As for what Al Queda makes of it: fundamentalist terrorists do not need to find a legitimate reason for their violence. And we don’t need to worry about providing them with one. By definition, their actions are disproportionate to the goals they aim to achieve.

I´m already done with this; I could feel the aneurism inflating inside my skull, I know when enough is enough.

Easing up on the gas

So there.

Incredibly, this is the most bullshit I have read all day. The Spaniards voted according to their own intentions, and just because you believe that the outcome is what the terrorists wanted does not mean that the Spaniards voted as they did because the terrorists wanted them to. That is a fucking offensive assertion, and given the context, one which could do with just a little bit more justifying before being trotted out.

I will agree that it is galling that the terrorists will now probably congratulate themselves on a job well done. However if one takes the terrorists into account either way, then they have achieved disruption. It is entirely disingenuous of you to completely ignore the actions of the government following the blasts. They were clinging on to the ETA story for grim life in the face of the facts, and it is at least as probable that this lost them the election. A country that has just lost almost 200 people to terrorism does not like to be lied to.

Hmm. That doesn’t adequately express my opinions. Muad’dib, you fucking repulse me with this shit.

Yes, that’s better.

They’ve said they’ll pull out if the targets regarding sovereignty are not met, and if the UN is not properly involved. While I agree that the end result may be something which the terrorists count as an achievement, I wonder why you believe the involvement of terrorists should prevent a government from doing what they believe is right.

Not if the PSOE and 90% of the Spanish population opposed the war and the occupation long before the bombing occurred. Get that through your thick skull, for chrissake! Very few people’s minds were changed by the bombing.

Did it ever occur to you that leaving them in Iraq just to spite them could, just maybe, cause more damage?

I have a bit of news for you, AQ are a bunch of insane fucknuts. I’m sure they have plenty of excuses to try and justify their inhumane behavior. Are you suggesting that if the PP had won the election they would have said “shit, well that didn’t work, I guess there’s no point in blowing shit up anymore”?

What if Zapatero was to come out and say “we’re pulling them out because I feel they would be better used fighting AQ instead of in Iraq”

Rex Dork
“That could only mean sucking up to European interests and letting France and Germany veto our foreign policy decisions, as that’s basically what GWB was unwilling to do when he finally got fed up with UN obstructionism and invaded Iraq…”

You just won’t get it, will you, chucklewit? No matter how many times we rub your nose in it, smack you with the rolled up newspaper and yell “Bad Rex! Bad! On the paper! On the paper!”, you keep crapping on the rug.

Our Euro allies were right, dead right, totally right. If we had listened to them and kept on inspecting, we would have found out what we know now: the “vast stockpiles” were a crock, a chimera, a festival of bullshit. That would have been embarassing, but at least we wouldn’t have killed anybody over it!

And you know what? Your guy would be campaigning on it right now! He would be spinning how he forced the UN to get tough, how he forced Saddam to show that he didn’t have squat and all without a shot fired or a life lost! And here’s the kicker, scooter: he would have been right! It would have been a major step forward for international cooperation and law! A victory!

Instead, he pisses it all away playing tough guy. Now we’ve got Count Iraqula sucking on our jugular till we’re bled white and there’s no end in sight. A gazillion bucks and about 500 of our finest, and we got squat. Except puerile dreams of a Shining Citadel on the Hill.

Well said.

/don’t know if I need to pad, but what the hell.

Pardon me while I simultaneously show my age and gripe about the newfangled search function. Any inaccuracies in the following story are a direct result of my advanced age.

Years ago, Muad’Dib started some of his first threads on the SDMB complaining about how one could only find a beef and cheese, a beef and bean, or a bean and cheese burrito. He came close to being banned over his quixotic quest to find an answer to this inexplicable dilemma. Fortunately, unlike many new posters on the edge, he managed to stay level-headed on the issue and settled down, properly chastised and embarrassed—but now he’ll never reach closure on the beef, bean, and cheese burrito conundrum.

Oh, I’m sure some of the Bushistas would be on here arguing that it was still less important than Clinton lying about a blow job.

ummmmm…well at least 45% of that 90% was still willing to elect the Popular Party before the bombing. You do know that the election results were an upset right? You do realize that even the most liberal of newspapers chalks the upset to the bombings right? Well, now you know.

Before Thursday, the Popular Party had been favored to win by a comfortable margin.

Coldfire- same as above sans the snideness. While I agree that groups, like AQ, who use terrorism strategically (as opposed to tactically) tend to care less about the implications on the enemy’s policies , I still think there are a lot of jihadists who aren’t as fundamentalist as Osama. In any case, I consider this move by Spain to the equivalent of negotiating with terrorists.

Dead Badger re:

I never said that. I’m not the one saying “democracy is dead” or the “spanish are cowards.” The people should vote how their hearts and minds tell them and the government should, in general, follow the will of the electorate. I just think Spain is making a really bad move for Spain; sure it’s my opinion but I’d be willing to bet that the Spanish have an opinion about our next election as well. ETA is probably thinking “Damn we need bigger bombs if we want to get anything done around here.”

ruadh, why do you hate America so much? Clinton got his cock sucked in the Sacred Oval Office, fercryinoutloud! But I guess it’s typical for you liberal types to show disdain towards symbols of freedom and democracy. How unpatriotic. Move to Spain already, or one of them other pinko commie bastions, like, I dunno, that weird island full of Guinness and dwarfs or something.

So Clinton brings Arafat to the Oval Office, sits him down and says “Here! Have a cigar!” and Arafat says “Hmmmm. Could I have one with the wrapper still on?”

Coldfire if you can even decode that botch job I did on the coding, feel free to fix it.
