God on Trial

Anyone else see this on Masterpiece Theater?

I thought it quite interesting. A different take on concentration camp life than I have seen before, and a rather sophisticated discussion of God - putting Him on trial for violating his contract/covenant with the Jews.

I loved the rabbi’s rant near the end. “God is not Good. God never was good. He was simply on our side!”

If my DVR is working (dubious, considering its recent behaviour), I’ve got it taped for later. I think an ad on public radio clued me in to it, and it piqued my interest–though I had thought at the time that it was more of a non-fiction piece than a drama, with actual Auschwitz survivors putting God on trial. (I realize, thinking about it now, that there likely aren’t many of those still living.)

Either way, it sounds like a fascinating piece. Looking forward to watching it when I’ve got a bit of time.

Elie Wiesel’s?

No - Frank Cottrell Boyce.
