I can’t be assed to search for the thread but a long time ago I bet Debaser a c-note that Hillary Clinton would not run for President in '08. I was wrong.
Nobody tell him, ok?

Why didn’t you think she would run?
I thought the party would talk her out of it. I thought the intense hatred she gets from the right would put a ceiling on her polls and her electability and that the Dems would ask her not to run. I also thought she’d want to avoid the embarrassment of a loss.
I thought it was a hundred bucks and a shirt-off massage…
You could offer a happy ending for the massage if he’ll let you keep your hundred bucks.
nah, he’s just not that into him.
From TFA:
Two-hundred and thirty-one years after our country is founded, a black guy and a woman decide to run in the same election and it’s “the most diverse political field ever.” I almost laughed out loud when I read that. Almost.
Dio, Dio, Dio. I can’t believe you held that position. The right-wing hated Hillary only because she wanted them to hate her. It helped her with people who hated the right-wing. I believe you were there when I reported her performance on Fox News Sunday. How she charmed the pants off both Chris Wallace and Lindsey Graham. How she held up the gigantic Fox News coffee cup beside her face just like a bad Tide commercial.
Then she went on some road trips, saying things like it’s okay to believe in God. Or that pro-life is not always an entirely bogus viewpoint. Supporting the war (before the numbers for it slipped). And so on.
She can charm the right if that’s what she wants to do. Get ready to hear her talk about family values and a strong America. She is the most astute politician of the modern era. She will destroy Obama if she sees the need. By the time the elections roll around she will have rendered him irrelevant.
“Well, now, to put a fine point on it, Hillary has only officially formed an exploratory committee on the question of should she run, which implies that the issue is not *entirely *resolved…”
Parse him to death. Hell, he does it to us.
Good idea. Thanks for the advice.
Debase, I insist that we wait for a formal announcement.
If nothing else, that’ll give me some time to try to figure out how to tell my wife I lost a hundred dollars to some right-winger over an internet bet.
I told you over and over and over again that it wasn’t just "Republican porn Everyone was saying she’d run. My only caveat was that she might not run if the Republicans still controlled both houses of Congress.
Honestly, Diogenes, you see too many things thru your own political filter. Perhaps this can be a lesson. Sorry it had to come at such a steep price. Not the Benjamin, but losing to Debaser.
BTW, how did I not get in on that bet…?
Hey, I just thought of something. Can we edit old posts now?
Maybe I can go back and delete the post where I agreed to the bet and then act like I don’t know what he’s talking about.
You could change the bet to something cheaper, say, a ham sandwich and a bottle of malt liquor. Hell, he might not even want to collect.
At the time, all the TALK about it was coming only from the right and HRC had never once expressed a desire to run.
I really thought she’d see the ceiling on her polls. I guess I was wrong.
You could weasel a little longer by noting that she’s only formed a committee to look into the possibility. A lawyer might say you don’t need to pony up until she actually files with the FEC.
But I don’t know of any other candidate who’s ever declined to take the next step after taking this one. So yes, as the tattoo on Jesse James’ palm says, “Pay up, sucker.”
I hope this statement is meant to be taken in a humorous way. Otherwise
Frankly, it’s meant for humorous people to take it in a humorous way, and for people with sticks up their asses to take it in a tight-assed way. Whatever floats your boat, dude.
Well this is just great. Now I have to spam block my dad’s email address until January 09 at the very least…
It’s not my boat. It’s the boats of a lot of right-wing commentators who routinely accuse Democrats of trying to stamp out religion.
But whatever. If you say you meant it in jest, I’ll accept that.
