I first heard about them on NPR as well, a couple years ago, iirc. I would love to see them live.
They were here a few weeks ago. I’m too much of a wuss to go by myself (Why, you ask? I don’t know) and neither TheKid or any of my friends wanted to go.
Until…
We went to the Festival of Nations and she listened to a Russian band - accordian, domra, violin &c and she loved it. I had her listen to Super Taranta on the way home and she now regrets passing.
She should! Passing up a chance to see them is always a mistake! The last time I passed up a chance to see them play locally was the last time they ever played a club show in Los Angeles. They only come out here for festivals now.
