This reminds me of the time about 10 years ago when the song “I’m Horny” was tearing up the British and Irish charts. It’s quite weird to see 6yr old girls playing skip-rope or dancing while shouting and roaring “I’m horny. Horny, horny, horny!”
Yeah, I think it’s more of just being shocked that a parent(or whoever) would want to dress their young child in a sexually provocative costume. Personally, I think it’s inappropriate.
Oh man, I not only remember that song, I’ve got it on cd somewhere as part of a EuroPop compilation. I can imagine the horrified looks of parents everywhere. “You’ve got me horny in the morning and you know-oh-oh…”
ETA: to be on topic, I personally think the skirts on most of those outfits need to be closer to below-the-knee length. Cover up the kneecaps and they won’t seem to be so similar to the adult “sexy [insert costume idea here]” costumes.
Interesting. Back in the day (early 20th century/late 19th), it was only younger girls who wore shorter skirts and older ones who wore longer ones–I guess the rationale being that if you were younger, you could run around shamelessly but as soon as you became a Woman, it was indecent.
