Going as a French maid for Halloween?

Don’t forget the kids! I know little girls like dressing up, lord knows I did, but the ‘Registered Nurse Child’ looks like an extra from General Whore-spital (all right, I cannot think of lame porn titles on the spot).

I just think it’s interesting there’s such a social movement these days to rid the world of pedophiles and child molestors, and yet we have this to cater to their fine tastes.

I was in Target last night getting candy and what looked like an around 8 yr old boy brought the costume he wanted over to his Mom to approve. It was a child sized French Maid outfit. He was serious. Mom was not amused. I, however, was.

With the exception of the French Maid outfit, I don’t really see anything classically “sexy” about those…except that nowadays we’ve made “sexy” mean “looks like a 10 year old girl”, so sooner or later, 10 year old girls look sexy.

I mean, if a lab coat which comes nearly to the chin, opaque tights and a hat looks like a “whore”, then what should kids wear? Is it just the popped hip and hair toss that makes it look whorish?

I think it may just be that, like French Maid, ‘Sexy Nurse’ has become an adult costume staple, and the girl’s position in the photo reminds me of those in the adult ads.

I guess the rest of the site just has the creepy Child Pageant vibe for me.

I agree on the French maid is kinda silly for a 10-year-old, I’ve always taken it to be the cliche “I just wanna bust out and be a hottie this year!” Halloween outfit. And I also think the skirt on the 50s girl is to too short to be true to period (its so short they had to put the poodle appliqué on the socks!).

So yeah, they’re making $$$ by selling sexy outfits to 10-year olds (and moms who don’t have the time to sew an entire poodle skirt from scratch) But its not the most dishonest way to make a few dollars.

How the girls dress has nothing to do with a pedophile being attracted to them.

This much I know, but the obvious sexualization of little children doesn’t help the matter any.

“Major Flirt”? What is that girl, ten?

Tangentially, probably just me, but I hate when people refer to their infants as “flirting” with anyone.

Besides the “sexy” ones, there are other somewhat innapropriate/creepy kids costumes out there as well.

I swear I’m not a whore!
I wear this every Nurse’s Day (in May; send chocolate).

I hope not to come across as prudish here, but the issue isn’t that nurses are whores, or even that the children’s costume of a nurse is all that whorish. It’s probably the least whorish of all of them, but the fact is that all of these costumes evoke women who are sex symbols, or icons from perverse male fantasies. A flirty soldier? A bar hop? A pop diva? A french maid? Sure, all great as roleplaying ideas for adults, but on kids? And what the hell is that one at the top of the page? Hanna Montana? I’m no fan, but I’ve seen her before and I know she dresses a little better than that. That outfit looks like something off a five-dollar hoooker. A five-year old five-dollar hooker.

I’m afraid it won’t be long before they’ll have a costume that consists of pink undies, a pink training bra, a little pink purse and a miniaturized lap dog designed for grade schoolers. They can call it the Hollywood Bimbette.

Is this really catering to pedophiles, though? I thought pedophiles were into kids who looked like…well, kids. Not kids who look “sexy” or adult.

We could discuss what appeals most to pedos, but I’ll never know for sure because I’m not one. I never meant to suggest it appeals to them, more that the continued sexualization of children just seems to keep getting worse, I doubt it’s about to stop, and it gives pedos more of an excuse to justify their sickness. “Eight? Well she looked like she was 18.” I guess the costumes are cute and all, but I don’t think it’s right to be turning little girls into icons of sexual fantasy.

I think that it is more pathetic that the “occupational” costumes for girls are maids, carhops, and pop-star mock-ups.

I am a geek, but why not have construction worker, astronaut, firefighter or race car driver for girls as well as boys.

Why are you continuing to hi-jack the thread? I mean, I decided to ‘let it drop’ and let you have the last word but that wasn’t good enough for you. You have come back and expand on your ideas. This isn’t about pedophilia. This is about little girls, imitating big girls. The trend for big girls on Halloween, is to dress like strippers from a fancy strip club. (a trend I endorse) So when college age girls are going out like that, some younger girls want to dress similar.

The Hanna Montana costume is lame on many levels. Basically it’s a cheap blonde wig and some ‘rock star’ clothing.

I think a very small percentage of little girls will want these clothes and a small percentage of parents will buy them. That does mean that some girls will dress up this way, for maybe part of one day.

Big deal.
It’s not going to make a damn bit of difference to a pedophile.

It will not garner the pedophile any sort of sympathy or support if they try to use it as a reason for a crime.

Role playing in adult sexuality is not perverse, nor it is exclusvly a male idea. If you don’t want to come across as a prude, don’t make such huge generalzatios about how dirty sex is and blame it all on men.
and that’s not a Bar Hop, it is a Car Hop.

Personally, I don’t get the “Hey, let’s dress up as service industry workers” idea but hey, if that’s what you want, go for it.

Those are pretty much unisex, so no reason a girl couldn’t wear a “boy’s” costume. But you’re right, why don’t they market them that way. Here’s a firefighter selection fearturing one girl, in the powder blue version of course.

WTF Zebra? Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? How can anamnesis hi-jack the thread whenhe/she is addressing what the thread is about? And what, exactly, was there to let drop? Chill out. Sounds like you have issues.

I actually ment to edit out the hi-jack line. (I thought I did)

Yes I have an issue with the concept that the way a woman or in this case, a young girl, is in any way condusive to a felony. There is no clothing a woman can wear that can make any man a sexual predator.

It really is blaming the victim and I don’t like that.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that the kids are to blame.

As far as I know, the kids aren’t marketing this stuff.
