Going home again, a traveling MMP

I make a goooooooood pot roast. We are all stuffed, waiting for things to settle before attacking dessert.

Off to knit.

::continues **rosie’s **wave::

Mmmmm, pot roast sounds good.

Meant to say earlier: my local public radio station is having its semi-annual fund drive. Because it’s Pi Day, someone suggested making donations in multiples of pi. And someone else decided that listeners should write pi-kus (rhymes with haikus). 3 syllables, one syllable, 4 syllables. You’d think it would be limiting, but…it’s not.

I’ve been knitting. Finished off one wrist warmer (with the leftovers from the red scarf and hat) and am now finishing off the other before I forget what I did with the first one. Doesn’t really matter if they match, since they’ll be under sleeves and gloves.

Went to JoAnn’s and Michael’s and bought more knitting stuff. In case I have a knitting emergency, I guess. Only meant to get some needles, but…

Also did my grocery shopping for the week. Stopped at Trader Joe’s, the Pepperidge Farm outlet, and Whole Foods. Meant to clean out the fridge first, but didn’t quite make it to that.

Back to knitting…

10 hours of work till VACATION!!!. I bought a 12 pack of Guinness for Saint Patrick’s Day. Gordie likes it, I guess he’s a Jack O’Russell terrier.

gt, the Booster Club will be doing the UNC-TV telethon next Sunday from 6:30-11:30. Y’all might see me here.

Howdy all. Home sick today with a vicious (or should that be viscous? Or is that TMI?) head cold. Fortunately, HRH is with the maid at MIL’s house so I can just rest. HRH thinks the housemaid (whose name is Malkanthi) is the best thing since sliced bread - hubby and I barely get a look-in! I imagine the novelty of it will fade eventually, but in the meantime, it’s a relief that HRH is happy to spend time with Malkanthi when I need to have a shower/get dressed/go stand in a corner and stuff a towel in my mouth to stop from screaming! My daughter is turning into a real little Ms Bossy-Boots (did I mention she turns 2 next month?).

Have a nice holiday doggio!

gt, here’s my pi-ku:

Full night of sleep.

Up early - big surprise here.

I forgot to build the french toast casserole last night, so I did it as soon as I got up. Here’s hoping 2 hours in the fridge will work as well as overnight. I also did the dishes (dishwasher running, hand washed items draining) tended to the critters, and cleaned the cat box. Now I’m caffeinating and reading the funnies on line. And stuff.

It’s cold and rainy still - I’m going to lobby hard against trying to work on the boat today. Weds is supposed to be sunny and mid-60s, so **FCD **and I could run down to the marina after work and get the hull scrubbed. Probably not waxed, but it’d be a start. We shall see.

Ziva is a wuss. Seriously. She bolts at any noise and when anyone comes near her as she walks by. If she’s reclining on the couch, she’ll accept skritches, but unlike Taz, she won’t cuddle on your lap while you watch TV. I’m disappointed, because she was such a cuddle-bug at the adoption event. Maybe she’ll mellow as she ages - she’s still under a year old.

Well, that’s all the excitement on this Sunday morning. I’d love to have some pineapple upside down cake, but with the peach casserole planned for breakfast - well, that’s a lot of sweet… So I’ll wait. And suffer. Woe is me… :stuck_out_tongue:

Woe is you indeed Mooommmm! I want some french toast casserole - chuck some in the CD drive for me when it’s done, pretty please!

I decided my sickness is a good excuse to buy myself something nice - so I found me this! What do y’all think?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s the start of another work week. Woo and Hoo.

Everything went well yesterday. The corned beef got seasoned with some Old Bay as well as the corned beef seasonin’. It really tasted good! Next time I make corned beef I’m rememberin’ that little trick. The “It’s Irish Because We Say So Stew” turned out great. MMMMMMMMMM… It all got eaten. The green beer was also a hit as was a very adulterated Irish Whisky cake.

Puggy we use boneless chuck roasts. Ten five pound ones to be exact. They get chopped into bite sized pieces.

Ok, time for more caffiene and some brekkies. Then it’ll be purtification for churchification. Since this is the Sunday closest to St. Patrick’s Day, we will celebrate the Feast of St. Patrick this morning. Then I get to go to work.

See y’all tomorrow!

Morning Mumpers! I’m up caffeinated, off to work.

Poor FCM.

Dotty - that’s purty - wear it in good health

I am playing hookey from rehearsal today - there’s really no point in my being there since I wll not be on stage with them at competition. The fear of falling is too great and the one time I did stand on the risers (a few weeks ago) I was expending so much energy keeping stable that I cold not take a proper singer’s breath. So this year, I’ll sit in the audience and cheer.
I may go back to sleep for a bit, then do omething productive this afternoon. Yeah, that’s the plan anyway…

Mooom, we had a nummy pot roast last night, too! Great minds…

Dotty, I love that site! And the dress is lovely. I moght be ordering some stuff from them!

Grocery shopping in the future today. It’s still cold and trying to rain again. The forecast still says it will be clearing out by tomorrow though, and we’ll have highs in the 70s again. Yay!

Gotta go clean up the kitchen, clean out the fridge, clip coupons, and fold some more laundry from yesterday. In a minute…

Second load of laundry in the washer, first in the dryer, breakfast mess cleaned up, and I’ve declared I’m not cooking today, so anyone who wants to eat has to forage for leftovers.

I finished the bottom of my planter saucer. Once it dries a bit more, I’ll finish shaping the edge, and that’ll be that.

**FCD **and daughter were going to go to the boat to take the batteries out, but it’s pouring. We’ve got to pick up his med refills at the pharmacy and I have to drop mine off, so I may take my sweetie to lunch while we do that. That’ll be a nice break.

**Rebo **- the greatest minds!

I’ve been up for awhile now. We had a blast last night at our friend’s birthday party. I danced my tail off until 1:30 in the morning. The hubby even got out there and danced.

There’s snow on the ground here, but hopefully this afternoon’s winds will warm things up and we won’t see any more snow.

I plan to take it easy today. I’s TAHRED!

Belated happies, Nava!

I have been a busy BooFae just lately - I was out of the office at a doctor’s surgery on Friday to invigilate a series of exams, we got through 24 students during the day, with six doctors participating. It was hard work, I had to do all the timekeeping which also meant shepherding students to and from exam rooms and making sure they turned up in the right place at the right time with the right bits of paper. Luckily it all went well, and the docs were happy with the way things turned out.

Yesterday morning I went to a nature reserve about 15miles away with a friend, we’d arranged to help the wardens do some bird-ringing so they can tag the birds who come through the reserve and track their migration/feeding/breeding patterns. It was hard work, we trapped and tagged about 70 birds during the morning. Most of them were robins, blue tits and long-tailed tits, with a couple of chaffinches as well. After that I had to dash home and collect 'im indoors to go and run errands in town.

Today we had to go grocery shopping in the morning and then I had to get home in time to cook a roast dinner. I was supposed to be cooking last night, but he decided he wanted a roast today but didn’t know how to cook it (and the trimmings) so we changed days. Only I didn’t want to cook a main meal like that tonight because I’d already made plans for a sofa-date with a friend so I offered to do dinner at lunchtime instead…except that didn’t suit him because he wanted to be playing WoSW at 2pm.

In the end things got sorted out, his idea of getting up early to go shopping turned out to be nearly 11am, roast was cooked and scoffed, washing up has been done, I have done lots of cleaning and he’s sat on his lardy arse playing with his gnome yet again. Tonight he can cook his own supper, I will be sitting on the sofa in my jim-jams, watching Come Dine With Me - it’s a programme where four complete strangers entertain for a dinner party in their own homes, and are marked secretly by the other diners. I sometimes watch it at the same time my friend H does, we are either on IM or texting through it with our usual standard of pithy comments. Yep, that’s a sofa-date.

(((((Kai))))) - nothing to add to what’s been said, but always got hugs to spare.

Yays, boos, hugs, trouts and whatevers to the rest of you!

They lied about snow. We’re still supposed to get some, but nothing like as much as they were saying yesterday. I’m not sure whether this is a good or bad thing.

Otherwise, nothing’s happening. I feel kinda blah today. So I’m taking it easy. Really easy.

Mmmmm, we went to a Lebanese restaurant after Mass. Very yummy. It’s only been open since December, but the guy who owns it used to have a very good restaurant in the campus area. I had a falafel plate that came with some cucumber/tomato salad and hummus. Wanted dessert (they had a great selection of pastries), but I was good and resisted.

I’ve knit a bit and am pondering what else to do. Really ought to go out and do some garden clean-up, but I think I need a nap first (I was up way too late last night).

Back later.

GT

I’m boiling a chicken - half the meat will be for chicken spaghetti tonight, and the other half for chicken pot pie later in the week.

The doggies are jonesin’ for some outside time. They’re running all over the house raising all kinds of hell. Poor babies. Blaze just lays there barking at them. My poor ears!

It’s an eerie thing of late. I can be surfin’ the channel listing on TV, and if I see Jaws on I always turn it on. And it’s always almost to the part where Quint explains about his tattoo and the USS Indianapolis. “So, eleven hundred men went in the water; 316 men come out and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb.”

Show me the way to go home…

Hai everybody!

gt, you’ve given me a craving for Lebanese food. Mmmmmm. I’m never strong enough to resist the baklava, though.

{{snowbunny}} Sending some no-snow and un-blah-ifying vibes your way.

Gorgeous dress, Dotty! Wish I had the cleavage to work a neckline like that. Oh, and I’m glad the Housework Fairy is turning out to be useful for HRH-distraction duties, too… that’s fantastic.

So, over here in Muppet-land, it’s been a lovely weekend.

Yesterday was a bit hectic… ate a quick breakfast, got The Boy and I looking presentable, packed an overnight bag, scooted uptown to the in-laws’ place, made some small talk for an hour of two, then drove out to the restaurant where the Hundred Day party was being held to take some photos of the setup before the hungering masses showed up for dinner.

We had a great time, though. Much Chinese food was eaten (twelve courses!!!), many many many photos were taken, and I think I got my fill of cute for the month thanks to all the babies/toddlers who were in attendance. I’ll need to sort through the photos to burn a CD for the proud parents, but that’s later… I want some recovery time.

Today has been a gorgeous warm and sunny day… I left the back door open to air out the house a little, and Morgan spent most of the afternoon chittering at the birds in the backyard and pretending to be a Badass Kitty Killing Machine (though we all know she’d starve to death if she had to hunt for her own food). As for the humans in the house, we’ve just been puttering. I made a batch of apple, walnut and cranberry muffins that are cooling as we speak, and there’s a stockpot bubbling away on the stove with a chicken carcass and all the usual soup fixin’s for tonight’s dinner. Wish I didn’t have to go to work tomorrow, but at least I feel like I got the most out of the two days off.

Mmm, Lebansese food. Dotty, get the dress. It’s pretty, and you’ll look rockin’ in it.

Urgh. Tired day. I got out and did a little shopping, we took Nat to the park, and I’m making a cottage roll with potatoes and cabbage (early St. Pat’s celebration).

I should go dish up. Nat and Mr. Lissar are getting all excited chasing excited chasing each other behind me.

**Rebo **- **FCD **has a similar movie talent regarding Dirty Dancing. If it’s on cable, he can unerringly surf by it within 30 or so seconds of “Nobody puts Baby in the corner.” Naturally, we have to watch the last dance. I think I could dance both lead parts.

OK, time to 'fess up. Who swiped my red size E crochet hook? Just slip it into my knitting bag and all will be forgiven and forgotten. Please??

The kids and a friend went bowling. It’s still raining. Laundry is done, and I’ve come to a stop point on my knitting. In need to pick up stitches around the edge of an opening and I need the aforementioned red crochet hook. Without it, I’m kinda stuck. Sounds like a good excuse to get a whole new set of crochet hooks, yes? I only have 3, and I know I had at least 8 at one point.

Time to forage for food - maybe some leftover bean soup? Oh yeah, and I’m scheduled for my mammogram first thing tomorrow. Let’s all think healthy tit thoughts, OK?
()()

::Looks at red crochet hook suspiciously:: Nope, it’s a size I. Can’t help you, FCM.

Pretty dress, Dotty. Hope you bought it. (We’re a bad influence, aren’t we?)

Hope you’re all unblahed, snowbunny.

Party sounds like it was fun, Muppet.

It was beautiful out today. I spent about an hour and a half cleaning up in the garden. There are all kinds of plants starting to peek out of the soil. Yay! After the gardening, I went for a nice walk in the 'hood. Can’t remember when I last did my standard walk. Nice to see everyone out enjoying the weather.

Now I have a piece of stuffed salmon in the oven (thank you, Trader Joe’s). Dinner will be a bit late, but yummy.

Guess I should figure out what I need to do tonight yet.

Hugs to all.
