Yay! And it’s even near by!
Thanks, but I’m fine with minimum wage for now. And I discovered that there are a few gaps in my knowledge, so the training I’ll receive is the most valuable thing to me.
Congrats, Nobody! Keep at it…pretty soon, you’ll be Somebody!
Thanks.
I was supposed to start today, but it got changed to tomorrow. My schedule will vary from week to week depending on how much he needs me.
I’m very nervous. Being in his shop made me realize that there’s some things I didn’t learn in college, or by other means, and some things I forgot in the year and a half since I graduated. It made me realize I’m not as knowledgeable as I thought I was. That’s not a good feeling to have after finally getting a job in a field you thought you knew.
But he seems willing to teach, and I’m going to do everything I can to get up to speed on all my knowledge gaps. But my confidence was really thrown for a loop after my evaluation.
As long as he’s willing to teach and you’re willing to learn and be resourceful, you’ll be fine. Having the opportunity to apply what you learned and actually use some of your skills in real life should be a real asset going forward.
Good luck!
Thanks. Everything should turn out fine, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
Congratulations!!
That’s normal. I look for people who tell me what they know, but are willing to say they don’t know everything. People who learn are way better than people who know it all. Because no one really does know it all - they just think they do and are a pain in the butt.
Congrats. I’m really happy for you.
Congratulations!
I am sure that once you get settled in and aren’t so nervous that things like that networking problem will become easy.
Please keep us posted and Good Luck!
Thanks. I will.
Well, I’m a 1099 employee, or in other words, and independent contractor.
The owner and another employee were out on a service call most of the day so I didn’t do any tech work until the end of the day.
I won’t go into details, but lets just say he keeps giving me tasks which turn out to be my weak points. He doesn’t know they are, and I don’t want to admit to it. But so far I’m doing an OK enough job that I’ll be coming back next week, possibly Monday (he calls me in as he needs me.)
So next week it’s more work, and talking to my accountant. I’ve never been an independent contractor before.
