Not strong enough for the Pit, but WTF Verizon? My land line has been out for over two weeks now. One would figure that thay’d have figured out the problem by now. If it was just my line, maybe they wouldn’t have much of a reason other than my complaining to fix it. But it’s the whole neighborhood.
I called last Friday and they said it would be fixed on Saturday. Silly me, I assumed that they meant that particular Saturday. I guess that they neglected to mention that it would be the 3rd Saturday in November. Of 2013.
I have my cell, but I’ve already missed a bunch of important calls.
A few years ago I got so fed up with Qworst’s “service” that I decided they could keep it. A couple years ago my phone rang. Turns out I am now one party on an unintentional party line.
I’d actually consider getting DSL from them, but they have so screwed up the wiring in my neighborhood that I have no faith that it would be either fast or reliable.
ETA: The last straw with Qworst was informing me AFTER I had navigated their voice mail , and entered all my credit card info that their automated pay-by-CC system could only be used during regular business hours.
After I posted the OP, I called to see if I could figure out what’s going on. The operator that I spoke with was unaware that there was an area-wide outage. Apparently I’m the first person to call it in. Funny, my building management knew about it two weeks ago, and Verizon’s recording knew about it last week.
I had this happen to me not too long ago - a branch took down a wire. It took them a week to repair it. How I got them to come out: I happened to be awake at 4 am on Saturday night a week after, and decided to call Verizon out of the blue. They must have thought I was really serious, for they sent someone out by 11 am that same Sunday morning. :eek:
