Golden egg Goose

Ok an odd question.
If a goose could lay a golden egg what would be the approximate street value be?
Since, I have no knowledge of the average size of a goose egg. The weight in regards to it’s volume and am as handy as a chimp when it comes to geometry or the use of calculators,I turn to you my fellow (errr dopes? dopers? Cecilphiles?).

thanks in advance,
Osip

Average size of Canada goose egg.

Somebody else can do the math.

I’m guessing a goose egg weighs about 2 oz., and the denisty is about the same as water (probably a little more). Gold is 19.3 times more dense than water, so the same volume of gold would weigh about 39 oz. (avoirdupois). A troy ounce is heaver than an ordinary ounce by about 10%, so the golden egg would weigh about 35 oz. (troy). At about $272 an ounce, that’s about $9,500.

Based on DDG’s post, I think I probably underestimated the weight of a goose egg. Now I’d guess it weighs more like 5 oz. than 2 oz., making the golden egg worth something like $25,000.

Thanks Bib You Rock!
