Agreed. I assume you don’t want to name him, but his son is actually ok…at least when I’ve chatted with him in CS (what is now the game room) about games and books and such.
Gonzo’s ignorance really stands on it’s own though. I really felt him calling me a racist (well, attempting to imply as much) in my Obama thread was yet another example of how stupid he is. He didn’t even bother to read the article I cited, nor the responses from other posters in the thread…just came in with his head lowered looking to blast me. C’est la vie.

Why not. Attacking him would have the same force of logic they demonstrate in attacking posters who disagree with their pontifications. gonzo, you don’t seem to get that we aren’t attacking you for disagreeing with us. While your reading comprehension probably won’t allow you to understand this, please go back and find any posts on this threat that slam you for disagreeing with us. Instead you’ll see that people mention your inability to post a relevant cite or read the cites that others have posted, your unique (to put it nicely) writing style, and your complete lack of self-awareness. In short, we are pitting you because you are the dumbest son of a bitch on this board. It seems to be the one thing that unites both liberals and conservatives here.

On that issue, people aren’t united in this thread, much less on the board.
xtisme’s grammar needs polishing. I can understand careless mistakes, typos, some spelling errors and unique punctuation on a message board. But why should he be talking about Gonzo’s writing skils when he xtisme is still making mistakes on personal pronouns? (See Post 117.) There are two or three other minor problems with that post also.
I had just finished reading that post when I made my comment. The mistakes would not have stuck in my mind if he had not commented on someone else’s writing ability.
I make mistakes too. I’m not critical of other people’s writing ability unless they are unfairly putting someone else down for it or if they are claiming outrageous language scholarship or expertise that they don’t have.
Please point to any member of this board who is stupider (and please provide evidence of that claim). gonzo’s inability to master even simple English is a pretty open-and-shut case that he’s operating with an IQ that’s well below the average here.

I could care less what his grammar is like if he had something worthwhile reading. But, he is the type of person who would claim the sky is pink even though you’ve repeatedly told him that if he took off his sun glasses he’d see it was clearly blue. It’s like arguing with Homer Simpson, or Peter Griffin.
Gonzo, how do you do it? By what power do you force people who don’t like your posts to read them? All these people who can’t stand your structure, grammar, and opinions…nonetheless cannot restrain themselves from reading them! Many’s the time I wished I could make someone read something I’d posted, but I can’t do it, and you, apparently, can. If we take testimony from your helpless victims as fact, they are dragged to slog their way through all 50-60 of your disjointed words, bemoaning their fate as they stumble helplessly.

I have to admit, I’m now having great fun trying to figure out if Gonz is just having a laugh and playing dumb. After he’s spent post after post insulting other people, I have a hard time believing that he’s really quite so stupid as to believe that a behavior he constantly engages in is “unforgivable”. I’m starting to see him as something of New Iskander clone. I’m slowly beginning to be swayed into thinking that Gonz really is just playing dumb in order to ruffle feathers.
Lucy, it seems, may actually not be playing at all. Of course, it may simply be hard for a troll to understand why people might be pissed off at someone who habitually posts driveby, threadshitting content-free posts when people are trying to actually discuss things. Or it may simply be hard for a troll to stop trolling. Somehow, his ‘yuck yuck you are not being forced to read it yuck yuck’ shtick doesn’t show up when he feels like bashing, say, Coulter. Odd, that. It’s almost as if he’s adopting a position he doesn’t actually believe in, in order to annoy people.

I made a mistake. I should have listened to my son who said the pit is no place to go. But I thought it might be fun poking the nasties and angries. it is easy. But I got too close. When I looked over the edge I thought snakes, why did it have to be snakes.
Some are so serious in their battle to win opinion. Opinion. Gees. I thought they might lighten up a little but now, 4 pages later the kids are still wailing and congratulating themselves on a job well done.
Gonzo is stupid. No he is real stupid. Everything about him is stupid. Very elucidating. Certainly at the level i expected to start but finish…no. You guys have been a real disappointment.
I was a Rosicrucian a long time ago. I left it for the same reason I left religion. It is all false. It is big,big business that propagates itself on the money of the poor. Promises a lot and delivers nothing but lies.
Well…a couple of things. First off, yeah…my grammar, syntax and even spelling are pretty bad. Never claimed they weren’t old boy. I’m fairly lazy for one thing…and I generally write either on my phone or in a hurry between meetings. Also, quite frankly, I didn’t get the basics of English syntax and sentence structure in my early schooling mainly because I didn’t actually start going full blown to US schools until I was around 8 years old because my mother didn’t speak and English at all and my father only spoke English somewhat. Neither did any of my older brothers and sisters.
Here is the thing though. While my posts are certainly littered with a wide variety of errors, they are usually comprehensible. And while they may not be exactly earth shattering prose, they at least generally convey my thoughts to the reader, poor as those thoughts may be. Gonzo’s posts are barely comprehensible. Not only is his spelling bad (which is no big deal to be honest), but his sentences are fragmentary and generally cryptic…and he simply tosses in links without the benefit of actually quoting the relevant parts of those links or conveying in his own words what about the link is relevant.
While I can understand your ‘cast not the first stone’ theme here I’ll be honest…I don’t see the comparison as being all that valid. If gonzo took the time to actually write a meaningful post, even if it was chalk full of spelling and syntax errors, it would be no big deal. There are all kinds of posters who post meaningful and entertaining posts on this board who constantly make the errors in those directions…and THEY don’t generally get pitted because of them. Gonzo wasn’t pitted because he can’t spell or can’t write…he was pitted because he’s an idiot who can’t DEBATE, yet constantly jumps into threads to attempt to do so with inane links and drivel.
YMMV of course and perhaps you have the same opinion of my own meager skills. C’est la vie, ehe?
