I’m torn here. On the one hand I’m finding it hard to believe that ANYONE could be as stupid as gonzo has repeatedly shown himself to be, and still be a functioning human. A carrot? Yeah, he’d be at the middle range of carrot intelligence and schooling. Pocket lint? Perhaps he’d be able to broach the top 10% and be considered a genius among the pocket lint crowd. But a functional human being?? He has displayed a level of stupidity and ignorance that leaves me questioning how he is still able to breath at this point…let alone walk, talk or take a dump (no, not the kind he regularly does on this board).
So, as I said, I’m torn. Is he a troll, mascaraing as a sublimely stupid person? Is he a hive mind of morons who have somehow worked out a way to collectively archive idiot status and post on a message board? Is he a poorly written bot, spewing out drive by links and ignorant one line non-sequiturs from a data base comprised of old I Love Lucy reruns dialogue and Sponge Bob laugh tracks? Is he human at all…or some kind of mutated organism of nearly sub-squirrel intelligence?
I just don’t know. Whatever he is, I just wish there was some way to give him two brain cells that he could rub together, because if he HAD two brain cells to rub together maybe it would distract him enough so that he’d wander off and post on some other message board.
While I generally agree with your assessment of gonzomax, I’m really not sure what triggered this specific pitting. The post I get on clicking the link in the OP (#288 in a thread about 20/20 & guns) is fairly coherent and reasonable, at least by gonzo’s usual standards. Or was that just the straw that broke the camel’s back, 'cause I have no desire to wade through the previous six pages to witness the loading.
Well, this was the ‘final straw’ post that set me off:
Why did it set me off? Couple of things. First off he isn’t even attempting to debate. He is tossing around things like ‘Our gun nuts’…and making asinine statements like ‘In the face of clear and overwhelming data’, when just the opposite has been shown in that thread. He hasn’t even presented a good argument…let alone ‘clear and overwhelming data’. He isn’t debating…he’s spewing crap in the face of multiple posters trying to explain their positions in a fairly reasonable way (well, posters other than I…I have zero patience with him I admit).
He has yet to explain why asking for some reasonable checks on such a demo would be a bad thing. Why double blinds are unreasonable. Why it’s ‘fair’ to so rig the deck as was pretty clear to most of the people in the thread. He knee jerk accuses everyone who disagrees with him as a ‘gun nut’…when he wouldn’t know a REAL ‘gun nut’ if it kicked him in the balls and pissed on his face. I don’t even OWN a friggin gun, and I support registration and regulation of firearms for gods sake. REAL ‘gun nuts’ KNOW I’m not among their numbers…but gonzo is too fucking stupid to understand that most 'dopers wouldn’t be considered hard core pro-gun people by any stretch of the imagination.
Gonzo is completely irredeemable. He brings absolutely nothing to this board. He is too stupid, too hide bound…his posts have nothing interesting to say, and his presence in any thread is a disruption that usually does more harm to his own side than it does to the one he’s railing against. I don’t believe that I’ve EVER seen a more worthless poster on this board than gonzo.

No joke, and oddly enough no gratuitous insult meant, but I honestly think that Gonzo is mildly mentally retarded.
Normally it’d be worth sympathy… but that, I suppose, is the difference between seeing a mentally retarded guy trying to make a life for himself by bagging groceries, and one who becomes a ‘street preacher’ but decides to set up shop in your living room instead. And what’s particularly annoying is not just that he’s stupid, but that he defends the most asinine positions by arguing that those who have functioning brains are, in fact, stupid. It’s like that episode of The Twilight Zone with the woman in the hospital bed and bandages on her face.
A combat trained gunman bursts into a classroom ‘kills’ the teacher and then tracks onto the only armed person in the class, who he knows is armed, who has a long sweater over a retention holder in a seated position and isn’t nearly as well trained as he is… and the result is that anybody who would prefer a non-stacked challenge is a “gun nut”. (Why that phrase is legal in GD is beyond me).
Mortgage companies are evil because mathamatics are something The Gonz don’t bother with, and anybody who disagrees is an idiot and/or tool of The Man.

Yeah…I remember the ‘faggy’ thread. This was almost exactly like that. Multiple posters were trying to explain to him the logic of their arguments in the vain hopes he’d come back with a logical argument of his own…or would gracefully concede. Instead it was the standard gonzo shuffle of one line posts and off the wall answers that didn’t really address any of the posters arguments.

I’ll take some action on the first one…I don’t think this thread will go 5 pages. There have been a lot of Gonzo pittings, and especially the ‘faggy’ one I believe has worn 'dopers out. Even if the Gonz makes a special guest appearance in this thread and starts spewing his usual line of bullshit I don’t think it will make 5 pages.
The rest of them are pretty on the mark (though you might be over rating the apology factor for gonzo…I expect that to be zero or even into negative).
I’ve told you before that you come across as if you’ve initially composed your posts in red crayola. I think the saddest part of it all is the Flowers for Algernon nature of your offerings - you seem to show moments of some possibility for learning, but they prove to be ephemeral and fleeting, and come the next day you’re back at square one.

Clarification needed here: whose count are we going by, gonzo’s, or the rest of the world’s? In the “faggy” thread, on around page 7 or 8, he predicted that it wouldn’t get past page five. I’m not joking.
