Another thread full of good information, interesting viewpoints and lively debate…and interspersed with yet more cryptic one liners and bullshit drive by links from perhaps the stupidest poster currently on the 'dope. Simply put there is no getting through to this idiot…and no point in trying. I don’t know if he really is stupid or is simply lazy…or perhaps a troll.

Half the time I can’t even figure out what the hell his point is because he simply drops in a few words that seem to be randomly put together with a link leaving it to the reader to try and puzzle out what, if anything, is the point. Here is a perfect example:

This is actually one of his more coherent (and lengthy) arguments…but it reads like a poorly written Dick and Jane book from the 1st grade. It’s an assertion from the supposed authority of Soros (who in gonzo’s own link says not only that he’s no expert on the oil market but that his company isn’t even IN the oil market!) and Ramm…it’s not an argument in a debate. Christ, I could probably find a cite from some idiot saying (with authority by the gods!) that the price of oil is driven by space aliens or that it’s the fault of gay midget transvestites.

Well, as gonzo says…it’s all there to read and enjoy. And there is thread after thread worth of his fine posting style and wonderful links for anyone interested to continue to enjoy…feel free to search him out if you are so inclined.

I just wanted to vent and since I started to vent in the other thread (and missed the edit window to take it out) I figured I’d do it here. Knowing the 'dope and how Pit threads sometimes go I’ll probably wind up the bad guy anyway as I’m sure a lot of 'dopers love gonzo’s refreshing debating style…

gonzomax has a particular affinity for posting in oil-related threads, and to what purpose? God only knows. It’s amazing that we’ve done everything to dissuade gonzomax from his/her opinions with concrete fact, and yet the onslaught never ceases, the utter nonsense. Ah, well. It could be worse. Actually, I kind of enjoy his habit of advancing his arguments by triumphantly posting a random link (without title) that he found somewhere, as if to say “Ha! I have found a web page that may or may not be tangentially related to the subject under discussion! I win!”

If only it were that easy.

No direct comment on Gonzo’s intelligence, but just to clarify. gonzomax is LOUNE’s father, so he is a he.

I generally stay out of the oil debates and I don’t feel like wading through them, but from what I have seen in other threads, gonzomax is not one of the better debaters on the board. He might be more spelling and grammar challenged than I am, which is pretty sad and he is often fighting fights that no one else appears to be. (The tangential cites are part of this.)

In the linked thread he makes a comment to the effect that 9th grade economics class should be all one needs to see the truth about speculators, or words to that effect, anyway. It made me wonder if he had only recently taken a 9th grade class on economics and if it would be possible for him to repeat that class.

Given the number of highly intelligent and succinct raging rectums we have aboard, I would think that ol’ Gonzo wouldn’t rate this much attention. I mean, what the heck, its not like he grabs your eyelashes and forces you to read his posts.

Any cites or articles I bring are pre rejected by you. They are not aimed at you at all though. They are for people who read them and don’t contribute. Hopefully it will make people see the other side . Something you show no ability for. You have a puerile philosophy that apparently has not grown since 9th grade econ. Edit to add: It would possibly be better if he was capable to responding in some sentient fashion to our comments. When we say that “such-n-such does X, Y, and Z”, he’ll just ignore it and continue with his rant. In fact, generally speaking nothing that any says to him gets through, even to noting that none of his opinion pieces by the ignorant are really accurate.

Well, actually I have a few…and here is the thing gonzo. They are MY arguments. When I cite something I actually quote the part that I think is relevent and then I comment on it IN MY OWN WORDS. Now…my arguments have been known to be wrong from time to time (snort I can here the rolling of eyes now :)) but at least they are MY arguments. When you post it’s generally a one liner with a link that has no quotes, no explanation…nada.

That’s not an argument…that’s a drive by link where you expect the reader to follow your cryptic bullshit one liner then dig through your cite (usually to wackjob web sites like The Bumble Bee, to use one of your recent examples) and figure out what the fuck is your point…if any. My arguments may suck, they may be unconvincing…but at least I take the time to actually WRITE THEM! Unlike you.

Who do you think you are fooling? I’ve asked you, repeatedly, to flesh out your posts with some substance and you have never even tried. You rarely actually quote the relevant parts of your cites to illustrate your, um, point and instead continue to do the same things over and over again. Not only that, you don’t seem to read what others say or cite…even when they gasp QUOTE THE FUCKING RELEVANT PARTS OF THE CITE TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR FUCKING POINT!

So, to sum up…you are incapable of debating, incapable even of following a debate and incapable (seemingly) of understanding even what the fuck is being debated. Instead you are like a tape recorder with a pre-written message that falls short of being a rant simply because you are even too stupid to write a decent rant…since most rants take more than one sentence and a link!

Have you noticed that I actually open your cites (well, I used to anyway)? You know why I can quote from them in my replies? Because I actually not only opened the link up but I bothered to read the cite trying to puzzle out what the fuck your point is…which you seem incapable of doing yourself. Mind, I’m talking about YOUR OWN LINKS here! Half the time I open up one of your links it says something completely different than what you seem to be saying…or you seem to totally have misunderstood what it WAS saying. Or, it says what you seem to want it to say but it’s by an obviously biased source (like your reference to OPEC propaganda in the oil thread linked in this thread).
As for the rest of your post (I do have to give you kudos…longest post I’ve ever seen from you and something any 4th grader would be proud to turn in!), I think my irony meter has taken enough shocks for one day. I doubt anything I’m saying will get through to you any more than it got through to you the other times I told you. You are clearly either to stupid or stubborn to understand or learn and it’s seriously a waste of electrons to attempt further to do so.

Well, he really doesn’t get that much attention. I don’t think he’s been pitted all that often (I think I pitted him once before when he annoyed me but I’d be surprised if he’s gotten any more pittings), mostly because I doubt most 'dopers pay any attention to him at all, simply scrolling past his wonderful posts. To me he is a minor annoyance, someone who is constantly dragging down the debate with his inane posts. As I said, I merely wanted to vent a bit and having done so I feel much better. I didn’t/don’t really expect that many replies to this thread as like I said, I don’t think most 'dopers care about gonzo enough to come in here and vent at him.

The pit …this is your milieu isn’t it. You can insult as much as you want and bring the same info as always…none. You bring to debate what Don Rickles brings to comedy. Someone may like it ,but adults are offended.
If I were you I would ignore all other boards are just stay here. It suits you well. You bring heat without light. You bring reaction without thought. You should learn to question your beliefs, eve a little would help you out.
