Good-bye, S.D....it's been fun!

San Diego, that is.

Sorry, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to start a legitimate-but-misleadingly-titled thread.

I just accepted an offer from at&t (they like to use lowercase now, for some reason) to work at their new Internet Data Center in San Jose. It means that I’ll have to leave San Diego, and a home that I’ve shared with my best friend for the last 4 years. But, as others have noted, it’s a jungle out there in the job-seeking world, and the starting salary is really, REALLY good. And, since I previously worked for SBC/Pac Bell–after 5 years, I can bridge my earlier 23 years of service.

Thing is, back in 1996, I relocated to San Diego from San Jose, when Pac Bell was downsizing. So, I already know my way around, and I’ve kept in touch with my friends over the last decade. One of my former co-workers has already offered me her spare room to use while I look for a new place to live.

So, San Diego, I’ve loved the last 10 years, but I have to pay the bills. And, just to beat you to the obvious line, I DO know the way to San Jose…

Congrats on the new job!

(Damn, there’s some serious job mojo going on these days – I keep hearing stories here and IRL about people landing various “perfect fit” jobs. Including, of course, myself. )
