Who Wants A Job?

(Yes I did get permission to post this)

I work for MySpace.com. I am the QA and Tech Support Manager(s). I’m hiring right now for tech support. I’m looking for someone that has the ability to eventually take over Tech Support and become the manager. I am very open to the ideal candidate having initiative and wit and I don’t even mind if they outshine the magnificant job I’ve done so far ;).

Here’s the actual posting:

Tech support person need for fast-paced Internet company.

Duties includes providing customer support via email, tracking support trends for internal use and various other support-related administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will be computer and Internet savvy, work well in a fast-paced, ever changing environment, be courteous and have a sense of humor, and will work well
without supervision.

Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS IE, Netscape Navigator, Eudora, and the Internet in general. Must have good typing skills.

We offer a friendly work-environment, good salary, and good benefits package.

Please send resume to trisha@myspace.com.

There is a catch however. Well, it’s not a catch in my mind…but it will be in yours. Our corporate headquarters are in San Francisco. Originally, I was going to build the support division there. Now we’ve decided that we want it to be here, where I am. In Boise. Idaho. One thing to consider is that you will get close to California wages at an Idaho cost of living :).

If any of you feel that you’re qualified and either already live here or can move immediately, please feel free to send me your resume.

(Tuba, when I spoke to you it was about FreeDiskSpace.com - we just partnered with HP and changed our name to MySpace.com and announced it at Internet World. Just wanted you to know this was the same company).

Just wanted to bring this up one more time in case anyone missed it over the weekend.

trisha

Sigh… you had me salivating until the Idaho bit…
Sure you don’t want to open a Portland office?

I am human, and I need to be loved
Just like anybody else does

Whats the salary range? Bear in mind that i SF, you need at least $50,000 year just to come out even.

Awww, c’mon Mad. Portland’s beautiful and all that, but it’s not that far away. Move here and visit there

I’m going to hire by Monday…AND I’m great fun to work for!

trisha

Yes, Handy…I lived in Novato (North Bay) a couple of years ago for several years.

Salary range is the same as what we offer in our SF office. If you get an interview, you’ll even get to discuss it

trisha

Sure you don’t want to keep it in the Bay? I know lots of people for the job(including me), but nobody who’d go to spud-city!

Hey, I lived in Novato for 5 years! (near Petaluma in Marin county)

Small world!

The Turtle Moves

bangs head Finally find a job I like…in IDAHO? Sure you don’t want to open a DC office? Or one in Texas?

wanders off, grumbling

Looks like you need a little extra incentive.

Move to Idaho to take the job, and jazzmine’ll throw in all the fresh duck you can eat!

Ike…perhaps you could take a recruiting position? LOL!

I’ll be sure to mention it to the powers that be. hehehe

trisha

Is there surfing in Idaho?

Our little city of 17,000 people just got a new city manager. They want to pay him about $12,000 per month, plus benefits [about $1700 a month more], plus house, etc. Ah, ha! Comes from Moraga, where he used to be city manager. This should be interesting to see.

Nah, but there’s skiing

Damn, jazzmine, you had me twitching at my keyboard, as anyone who hears my trials and tribulations in chat would imagine. Idaho?!?! Wow, not sure about that one. I’d be sending you roses to grease the wheels so to speak if this were based in Chicago, or SF. I just don’t think Boise is going to work. I’ll do some soul searching. Great that you shopped it on the SDMB though :).

Omni, if it was based in Chicago or SF, I’d be fighting you for it. At least I’d feel like my resumes weren’t going into a black hole.

Two questions? Do you allow pets at work, do you pay moving costs?

Yes, pets are allowed at work…well, I assume we’re talking about a dog here? They’re even allowed in our SF office.

Moving costs. Depends on what you have to offer us and where you’re coming from.

trisha

When can I start? I’m in Virginia (maybe my name gave it away), but it sounds interesting. Can you really bring your dog to work? Josh

Of course you can bring your dog to work. It makes for much happier workers.

trisha

It sounds like a good job for me. It would be cheap to move me too. I live in corvallis! It would be great. I have lots of experience with the software. I’ve also worked at radio shack with tech support.(No sarcasm I’m serious.)

Do you want a resume’??
