Seriously, this guy has to be one of the worst announcers ever. He has extremely limited schtick on his own (his big gags are “I suck at poker” and “marriage is evil”) and whenever he picks up some other schtick he beats it within an inch of its life. Currently (episode 9) Mike Matusow is at the featured table, as he was in one or two previous eps, and so Chad has been yammering on two themes: the “Matusow Blowup” and “This is the New Mike?” Which even if he were making actual funny remarks on the two themes, there’s no way it’s funny every single time Matusow’s on-screen. It’s especially not funny when I already know where Mike finished this year. Chad’s been calling the WSOP for, I think, the last three years and in all that time he’s said maybe 5 things that were actually amusing. If I never hear him say the words “UNO deck” again I can die a happy man. Add to that the fact that he mis-calls hands in a pre-recorded event on a fairly regular basis.
