I’m looking for either web based or downloadable software to track my diet and exercises (both cardio and strength). There are a gazillion of them out there and I’d rather not have to register and try them all. Any favorites?
I like Sparkpeople. It helped me lose 50lbs a few years back.
I don’t know how they are now, but back then they had charts that helped track everything you mentioned, plus an excellent support group, message board, articles, etc, and it was all free.
Thanks, I’ll check that one out. I’m playing with one on healthehuman.com and it won’t let me enter things like I want. For example for weights I would like to put down dumbell curs, 30 lb for 10 reps, 35 lb for 10 reps and 40 lb for 10 reps, and this tracker won’t let me track different weights and sets of an exercise. So I’m looking for one that does that. Also will let me track performance on cardio and sprint training intervals if possible.
Myfitnesspal.com is pretty good too, along the lines of sparkpeople. It allows custom foods and exercises IIRC.
Seconding SparkPeople. They’re much the same as Cap’n Obvious mentions, plus these days they have an app for the iPhone which you can use to track food, exercise, weight, and water intake, plus you can see some calorie reports on it (breakdown, burned, that kind of thing). Not sure if there’s an Android option or not since I don’t have one.
They suggest meal plans or let you build your own, based on dietary needs/preferences, and have an extensive online collection of recipes that you can plug into your meals for the day and see what the results are.
SparkPeople.
I’ve heard good things about the Livestrong website too, but haven’t tried them.
Yes, Sparkpeople has an Android app now.
MyFitnessPal wins for the recipe builder alone.
